Chapter Sixteen
SangI hadn't realised how much I had worked up an appetite until my plate was empty. The SteakHouse restaurant was more casual than what I expected it to be. I honestly thought we would get turned away because of our casual attire and the paint splatters we have on our hands and faces. I was wrong. The waitress had shown us to our table and then the chef himself had come out from the kitchen. He introduced himself, made recommendations and then took our orders himself.
"Academy," Silas had whispered in my ear.
After we had our food, we got back into the cars and then headed towards the Go-Karting place.
Go-Karting was fun. I think the best and funniest part of it all was watching Silas get himself into the buggy. His knees were almost touching his chest, but he made it work. North won two rounds, Owen won one, and Kota won three. He was crowned the winner.
Now I'm hunting through my closet back at home trying to find something to wear. Gabriel, Luke and Victor are here with me, the others have gone back to the house Luke and Gabriel shares with North and Silas.
I pull a duffle from the top shelf of my closet, dropping it to the floor. I find the ankle boots at the back, still in the shoe box, stacked right at the bottom beneath all my Converse's, sandals and ballet flats. Then I start looking through my clothes. The theme is black. So, black dress?
I pull out a black dress and hold it up. It's pretty but it's also a no. I like the flared skirt on it, but the high neckline wasn't exactly what I had in mind. I put it back just as my bedroom door opens. Gabriel, Luke and Victor come inside and I raise an eyebrow at them. "You didn't knock."
"Sorry, Gorgeous. Knocking on doors isn't a habit of mine I'm afraid," Gabriel says, coming right to my closet. "Let's see, shall we."
"I could have been naked."
Gabriel's arm pauses. He was about to reach in for a hanger but hadn't quite made it there when I made my comment, hands on hips, eyebrow raised, lips pursed. Slowly, his head turns to face me, the blonde locks in his hair tucked behind his ear. His wide sky blue eyes focus on me, his lips form an O and his cheeks flush. "Oh. Yeah. You're a girl."
Luke cracks up with laughter, falling backwards onto my bed. "Gabe, you should see your face."
I lose the fight and a second later, I'm laughing too. Victor snorts, shaking his head. "Yes, Gabriel. I'm a girl."
"I'm sorry," he says, no avoiding my eyes, his neck and cheeks red with embarrassment. "I'm just so fucking used to walking in on the guys and I..ugh. Fuck. Shut up, Gabe." His eyes focus on Luke, a glare on his face. "You can stop fucking laughing now."
If anything, Luke laughs harder, and because he's laughing, I laugh. I try to hide it by dropping my chin to my chest, covering my eyes with my hand. But I don't think it's looking at Luke that's setting me off. It's his laugh and what a lovely laugh it is, but it's this cackle that reminds me a little like a hyena. Soon enough, Victor is joining in with us, leaning back against the wall and holding in stomach. Much like me, I don't think he's laughing at Gabe's embarrassment, but at Luke.
"Will you shut the fuck up," Gabriel cries to Luke. "God, I hope you choke on your tongue laughing like that."
I can't stop it. My head goes back and my quiet giggles turn into full blown laughter. "Luke, please stop," I manage to choke out.
My hand reaches out and I put it on Gabriel's shoulder, holding myself up as I clutch at my aching stomach, taking a few deep breaths to try and stop the laughter. Luke's laughter dies down too. I dare not look over at him, afraid I might set him off again.
