Chapter 5
"She's waking up" I heard a faint voice say. My eyes fluttered open. I was in a white room with steel doors and a tinted window. There were several people around me. One was small and chubby, with sweat dripping down his head, and his balding head shinning. In front, there was a lady staring at me, she had brown eyes and hair, she was tall and a bit stocky, but she had a prideful air around her. Another looked evil, he was tall and thin with dark hair, and black eyes. A man standing next to him was writing something down; he was a giant, big, tall, wild hair. One girl was blonde and had green eyes.
"It is about time." The tall, skinny, dark haired man stepped forward. He looked at me with a mixture of hate and disgust, "How old are you?" he gruffly asked me.
"Ten. Where am I?" I asked.
The man in front of me raised his fist like he was about to punch me. "Stop Damien," a female voice said. The women held on to his fist and glared at him, "Don't provoke her." What does provoke mean? I thought to myself. Damien put his fist down. The women stepped forward, "Are you fully aware of your situation?" she asked calmly, yet sternly.
My situation? All I had noticed was the odd white room, but now that she mentioned it I felt like I was wrapped like a taco in something. I looked down; a cloth was wrapped tightly around me, from what I could tell, underneath I was completely nude. I blushed.
"I guess you aren't," the women said, writing down something on her sheet. I noticed Damien glaring at me and I caught his gaze. In his eyes was an unexplainable hate. "So dear, what do you remember" the women who was writing on the sheet interrupted my thoughts.
"Tell me why I am here first," I bravely spoke up.
"Why don't we just kill the little bitch. She's a damn murderer for God's sake" He angrily snapped at the women, while lighting a cigarette.
"Damien put it away and we aren't going to kill her," the women calmly said. I saw she was writing little notes on her sheet, although I couldn't see what the sheet said.
"Rose! She is going to cause problems and our research doesn't matter if we just kill them all!" Damien yelled back. Kill me? What did I do? Who are these people? I noticed some of the other people around me started to shift their gaze between Rose and Damien. Rose stood up and glared her brown eyes at him.
"Actually, I don't remember at all," I responded half lying. I did remember a little, but I didn't trust these odd people yet.
"Okay dear, just rest now," Rose responded and then motioned for the rest of the workers to leave. Everyone shuffled out, except Damien.
"I am watching you," he growled before leaving.
I was all alone. I squirmed a bit. I was tied to a table that was almost completely vertical. I sighed. I was only ten! How did I get here? What did I do? I remember a little bit. I went to school, passed out, and then awoke here. Though, there seemed like a piece was missing. What did I not remember? At least there wouldn't be too much commotion with my absence.
"Excuse me?" a woman who looked about twenty came in the room.
"Who are you?" I asked her.
She started to cry, "I'm going to die!"
"What do you mean? Why would you die?" she looked up at me.
"Sorry, I am a bit nervous today. It is my first job." she said.
"What's your name?" I asked her, curious.
She gave me an odd look, "My name is Frankie."
"I love that name!!!" I replied.
She smiled, "I came in here to give you a pair of clothes and take you for a quick walk."
I excitedly nodded. Frankie lowered the table and undid my bindings and the cloth. "I won't look," she said as she passed me a change of clothes. I grabbed the dress she had placed in front of me. It was white with some black lace. I looked for shoes and I saw a plain pair of black ballet flats. They looked pretty on me and everything fit really nicely.
"Done!" I said. Frankie looked at me up and down.
"Let me brush and do your hair," she said with a nervous tone in her voice. I sat as still as I could. I felt the brush pull at my scalp and I whimpered a bit. Soon she finished brushing and started to braid it.
I turned around as soon as she finished, "Do I look pretty?"
"Yes, of course. Follow me," she stood up and started walking to the door. When we walked up to the door Damien appeared in the doorway.
"I will take her Frankie," he said. Frankie rushed away. "Now let's make this clear. I am not like Rose, I will hit you if you don't listen to me. Okay? And second don't ever run away from me. Third, never disagree to do experiments," he grabbed my wrist and dragged me down the hall. I winced at his grip.
We turned a corner and there were people with guns! It shocked me, what were the guns for? I was so confused.
"It is time for my favorite part," he said. I was chained to a wall by a few workers whose faces were covered by masks. I was starting to get scared. I gulped. "This is our first experiment. If you don't listen you will get shot." Damien's voice went over the intercom in the room I was left in. "Oh and by the way if you don't try you will most likely die." What was this place?
"Okay, first throw," he said. A knife flew through the air. I widened my eyes. I was hit in the center of my hand. I screamed. Blood flowed from my wound, getting on my first beautiful dress. An unexplainable anger rushed over me. I was ready. I drew out all my strength.
"Second one." Damien sounded bored. A knife flew for my stomach. My invisible hands grabbed it. "Finally," Damien said. I passed out.
"She isn't that tough is she?" I heard a far away voice.
"She is, trust me. Once we train her we can sell her as a war weapon!" the other deeper voice said.
"She probably doesn't know Chi-"
"Don't say that name! If she finds put about her then we may just call ourselves dead!."
Chi? Never heard the name. Ever. I started to drift out of consciousness. The voices faded and all I heard was a faint buzzing noise.
