"Coco!" I yelled. It was the weekend and I told her that I would show her around town.
"Coming!" she called down. She ran down the stairs almost tripping. I smirked.
"Hey where do you want to go?" I asked her. She was deep in thought trying to think of somewhere.
"What is a fun place?" Coco finally said. She was pulling her hair up into a high ponytail. This seemed to be her favorite hairstyle.
"Um," I tried to think of a place she would like, somewhere fun. "How about we take a walk down the boardwalk?"
Coco stood up and nodded. She ran to the door and opened it, the summer air was still here, and I loved it. I breathed in the ocean air. Living close to an ocean had its advantages. We got down to the boardwalk, and a faint breeze blew through our hair. A hand tapped my shoulder.
"Hey Jay!" Eddie came up behind me. "And hello there sexy." he winked at Coco. Coco however was looking in the water intrigued by something other than Eddie, which in his book was a big no no.
"So how have you been Eddie?" I asked, trying to distract him.
His gaze rested on me. "Nothing in particular just one night stands."
I rolled my eyes, but Coco said, "With yourself?" She was still staring at the water and didn't seem to care of the reaction of his.
"Your just mad you couldn't have me." Eddie snapped.
"Oh! A fish just splashed! Come look Jay-Jay!" Her pale, slender finger pointed to the direction where the fish was coming from. I walked over and Eddie grumbled a bit.
I took a look over the edge, I saw something silver a couple feet below the surface.
"Isn't it pretty?" Coco sighed. Then she abruptly stood up and stared at the sky. A plane was low and it looked like it was about to land at our base. Her face was angry, scared, and even worried.
"What's wrong?" I asked Coco.
"Um, I just don't like planes that's all." she stood straight up and stretched her arms.
"Oh! And I forgot to ask you something." I told Coco, I forgot about Eddies presence.
"Yes?" she smiled back. A piece of her bright blue hair waved across her face.
"Want to go to homecoming with me?"
"Hey! I was about to ask her!" Eddie objected.
"What's homecoming?" Coco asked us.
"Well, its a grindfest! With hot girls!" Eddie told her.
"Thats not a really good description Eddie." I sighed.
"What's grinding?" Coco looked at us both curiously.
"Need an example?" Eddie wiggled his eyebrows.
"I don't think so," I face palmed, "Eddie just stop." Eddie just laughed in response.
"Well what is it?" Coco pressed.
I waved my hand at her, "Never mind." She shrugged and looked back at the water.
"Well, Coco want to go with me?"
"Sure." she said half-distracted. I couldn't blame her, she didn't even know what homecoming was.
"Let's go." I tugged her arm.
"Can we eat?" she smiled at me.
"How about at home?" I suggested, I didn't want her to be around Eddie, I had a feeling his pervertedness would rub of on her.
"Please?"
"I will take you!" Eddie grabbed her hand and started to pull her away. She looked at me as a sign of help.
"I'll go." I finally said and walked in between Coco and Eddie.
"Dairy Queen?" Eddie suggested.
"Sure." I replied.
After a quiet, uneventful walk to Dairy Queen we went inside and ordered our food.
"I'll have a burger and a pop." Eddie said.
"Same." I said.
"I will have eggs." Coco smiled.
"M'am we don't serve eggs here." the lady at the cash register said.
"Just get her what I am getting." I sighed.
The lady gave us a weird look and gave us our total.
I carried our tray to a table by the window, letting Coco sit by the window. "Hey Jay? What is homecoming exactly?" Coco asked me.
"Well you dance, talk with friends, eat, stuff like that." I replied taking a bite of my burger.
"Oh, that sounds fun." Coco just stared at her burger.
"You going to eat?" I asked her.
"Um, how?" she whispered. Eddie started to laugh but, I silenced him with a glare.
"Just watch me." I encouraged her. I did a quick demonstration.
"Oh!" she smiled, and she took a bite of her burger, "This is better than eggs!" Coco exclaimed.
"I'm going to order ice cream. Want anything?" Eddie asked us.
"Nah, we were going to leave. I wanted to show her the town a bit more."
"Oh alright, lovebirds." he muttered the last part under his breath.
"Let's go." I sighed. We walked out of Dairy Queen, greeted by a blast of fresh air. I breathed in deeply. "Where do you want to go?" I asked her.
"Where that plane went!" she smiled. Her eyes showed worry, I quickly dismissed it though.
"Alright then." I said.
Ten minutes later we were at the fence. The plane we saw earlier had people with guns coming out. What was this? I heard Coco gulp. I stared at her curiously. Did she know what this was?
Coco backed up from the fence and ran. "Coco!" I yelled. She was running as fast as she could through the tree's. Her blue ponytail was streaming behind her. I tripped and fell on the ground. "Coco..." I groaned.
"Jay!" she ran up to me whispering. "Get up!" she grabbed my arm and pulled me up with a great amount of strength.
"Wait, why?" I asked her. I stood there.
"Please just follow me!" she begged.
"What do you know?" I asked her. I could tell this wasn't the Coco I knew. This was a different girl, one who remembered.
"Nothing!" she hissed, and she tugged on my arm again.
I pulled my arm away from her, "No! Who are you?"
Coco paused and didn't say anything. Although tears formed in her eyes. "Please do not ask." she whispered. "Let's get out of here it isn't safe."
"Are those men looking for you?" I questioned her.
"No," then she mumbled what sounded like, "A greater horror is."
The wind hissed through the trees. It was quiet.
"Answer me!" I yelled.
"Shut up Jason!" she snapped. I was taken aback. "I can't tell you!"
"What did you do?" I half-whispered.
She looked down on her pale palms and whispered, "To much blood."
"What are you? Who are you?" I asked.
"Jason..." she grabbed my hand. I looked her in the eyes, they were blue and full of tears, years of suffering and guilt showed through her eyes. "Please, don't ask that."
Then for some reason the thing that I felt I was waiting for years for came, Coco leaned in and kissed me.
