"Hey! Stop!"
Henry blinked and watched with wide eyes as Heather quickly put down the drink at the register and ran out the door.
"Heather!" he called in confusion. He turned to Eira at the register and said, "Put it on my tab." He ran after the two.
He ran after the two as fast as his legs could carry him. He never realized how far the chase went until he saw Heather caught up to the running figure blocks away from where they originally started from. When Heather got close enough, she pushed to jump and tackle the figure. Henry was surprised when he heard you groan from the impact. Your hoodie fell off a long time ago and now your cap rolled to the side. Your hair was spilled everywhere with a few strands sticking out. Heather rolled you over and held you in a lock so you wouldn't escape.
"Sorry, Miss [Last name], but it's the ambassador's orders," Heather briefly said. She quickly put you in cuffs.
"Hey!" you called. You struggled until you realize it was no use. You slumped in defeat.
"[Name]? Heather? What the hell is going on?" You heard Henry say.
Just perfect, you thought.
"Sorry, Henry," Heather said seriously, "But I have a job to do."
"What job?" he asked but he was ignored.
"You know," you started, "You can let me go and pretend you never saw me."
"You know I can't do that, [Name]." Heather helped you to stand up. "I have to follow your father's orders." Heather felt a hand grab her elbow. The same arm that was holding you close.
"What job?" he asked again in annoyance.
Heather gestured to you. "I'm her body guard."
"What?" He furrowed his eyebrow in confusion and irritation.
"Correction," you sang. Your hands were now in front of you. You pointed one of your fingers in the air to get their attention. "You're my dad's body guard."
Heather narrowed her eyes at you in suspicion. "Your hands were behind you when I cuffed them. How did you get them in front of you?"
You hummed, pretending to think of a way to explain to her how you did it. Your finger tapping your chin in mock. "Have you ever jump rope before?"
Heather sighed in irritation while mumbling, "I can't keep my eyes off of you for one second."
While they were talking, Henry was trying to piece the situation together. He shook his head in disbelief.
"Wait a second," he said, "You're telling that you work for her father who is the ambassador?"
Heather looked at him to nod. "How do you know her?"
Henry stayed silent and pressed his lips together. He held back a groan and sighed instead. He pinched the bridge of his nose and squeezed his eyes closed. "She..." he didn't finished because he didn't know how to explain it. He gestured to you.
"Oh," Heather replied. She then realized what he meant. "Oh!"
Henry sighed in relief, happy she caught his drift.
You stayed silent the whole time. You already concluded that he probably talked about you to her. You weren't conceded, but you couldn't help but be happy when it might have happened like that.
"Come on," Heather pulled you at a waiting bus spot. She sat you down so she could call a cab. Henry followed in curiosity.
"Where are you taking her?" he asked in concern.
"To her father," she answered, "She ran away and I was ordered to bring her home."
"It's not running away if I'm over eighteen years old," you grunted loudly in frustration.
"Whoa, wait a minute. This is all that was about?" Henry asked.
"Miss [Name], here," Heather gestured to you mockingly. You stuck your tongue childishly and failed miserably at looking angry. Heather just rolled her eyes and Henry rose an eyebrow at you. She continued, "disobeyed her father and left."
"Seriously," you rose your hands to your temples to rub them. You could feel a headache come on. "I'm being treated like a child here. You didn't go against his orders or something?"
"I did at first," she sighed, "but then, he brought out the book. Sorry, [Name], but as much as I know you hate this, it's my job."
Henry interjected again, "All this because of an overprotective father?"
"Yes," you and Heather said in sync.
"How about I come along?" he offered, "I could try and talk to him."
You scoffed, "Good luck with that. It's taking me a whole lifetime and I'm still getting no where."
"Trust me," he smiled at you for the first time in what felt like forever, "I have my ways."
