Twenty-Four

I got it wrong; 12 days of Christmas starts tomorrow so here's another chapter of this!

'Hey, what's wrong? Has something happened?' Joe asks rushing into the hospital room where Demi is lying in bed sobbing.

'Life sucks.' She cries causing him to sigh. He drops his jacket onto the chair and instantly climbs onto the bed beside her.

'Come here...' He says softly. Instantly she curls into his side and clutches his tshirt in her hand.

'I-I want a baby, Joe.' She cries and he shakes his head.

'You're head is all over the place, Dems. You're emotions are all over the place right now. You're still recovering.' He says and she let's out a sob.

'Y-You don't want a baby with me?' She asks and he shakes his head.

'I didn't say that. You know I want children with you but we've not been together very long and this has been hard; both of our emotions are all over the place at the moment. I'm saying that if this is what you really want then it'll still be what you want in eight weeks and if it's still what you want then we'll talk about it.' He replies.

'Promise?' She asks and he kisses the top of her head.

'I promise.' He replies.

'How is she?' Dianna asks making her way into the room where Demi is fast asleep curled up against Joe's side.

'Emotional... I've cancelled my performance in LA; I know she said she wanted me to do it but I can't leave her like this, Dianna. I just can't.' Joe replies.

'That's okay. I think deep down Demi wants you, no Demi needs you here. I may have been skeptical about this whole relationship thing but over these past few days you've shown just how much you care about Demi.' Dianna says and Joe nods his head.

'I love your daughter, Dianna. I don't intend on hurting her ever in fact I want to marry your daughter and I want to have a family with your daughter and I want to grow old with her.' He replies causing her to smile.

'I know you do. If she's okay I'm going to pop back and see Eddie; Dallas had to work today and Maddie's walking the dogs before coming over.' She says and he nods his head.

'That's fine. I'll let Demi know you came by.' He replies.

'Thanks... Look after her.' She says causing him to smile.

'Of course I will.' He replies. Dianna quietly leaves the room and Joe glances down at Demi.

'We're going to be okay... I promise we're going to be okay.' He whispers kissing the top of her head.

'J-Joe...' Demi groans stretching his arms above her head as her eyes flicker open and she glances around the room.

'Hey, I'm right here. I was just in the bathroom.' Joe says making his way over to the bed.

'I thought you'd gone.' She almost whispers and he shakes his head.

'I'm going no where... Not without you anyway.' He replies smiling.

'The show?' She asks and he shakes his head.

'I've cancelled it. This is where I need to be not on a stage where I wouldn't even be able to concentrate.' He replies.

'Okay.' She says lifting the covers so he can climb back in beside her.

'You're not mad?' He asks and she shakes her head.

'I'm actually quite glad... I know it sounds really selfish but I need you here.' She replies and he smiles.

'That's not selfish at all, babe. I'm here and I'm not going anywhere.' He says kissing the top of her head.

'I know you think I'm just hormonal but I meant what I said; I really do want a baby.' She says quietly causing him to smile.

'And I meant what I said; if you still want a baby in eight weeks time then we'll talk properly about it.' He replies.

'Okay... When do you think I'll get to go home?' She asks cuddling into his side.

'Few more days I think.' He replies causing her to sigh.

'I hate it in here.' She says quietly and he nods his head.

'I know you do but a few more days and then we'll be back at your moms until you're healed properly.' He replies.

'I don't want to stay at my mom's for two whole months.' She says.

'Well we'll stay until the doctors give you the all clear to fly.' He replies.

'Okay.' She says.

'Hey, Nick...' Joe says holding his phone to his ear as Demi sits in bed scrolling through Instagram on her phone.

'Hi, how's Demi doing?' Nick asks.

'Yeah, she's okay. We just need to focus on her healing.' Joe replies glancing at Demi.

'That's good. I was just phoning to make sure she was okay so I'll let you get back to her. Give her my love and I'll see you both when you get back to LA.' Nick says.

'Okay. Bye.' Joe replies. He makes his way over to the bed and sits on the edge of it as Demi glances up at him.

'I'm hungry... Are you hungry?' She asks and he smiles.

'I'll go pick up something for us to eat, okay?' He replies.

'I love you.' She says.

'I love you too.' He replies.
