final boarding call

never worried about flights before

just another moment in life

some special time, away from normalcy

for me and my wife

always filled with excitement

of the adventures that await

the smiles, the anticipation

as we walk through the boarding gate

but this time, i sit alone

at the gate

no excitement at all

this is a lonely one way trip
