400 Poem Challenge (completed December 26, 10:15am)

dollar store

i know i am not a good poet

and

NO

i am not fishing for compliments

a good poet carefully weaves

an intricate story

using words and metaphors

that strike at the 

heart and mind of the reader

leaving lasting impressions

and sparking

unique interpretations

they inspire

simply by writing

i 

am a proficient writer

i can churn out poems 

by the dozens

lyrical and perhaps entertaining

they are often 

forgotten about

minutes after they are read

there is no meat to them

no lasting impression

no inspiration

no impact

but

you know what

it doesn't matter

i am who i am

and i write 

what i want to write

i don't conform

and i sure as hell

don't dwell over a poem

wondering if the words are perfect

and if i have gotten across the message 

i wanted to

many poets

are like high end

fashion shops 

and

department stores

i actually was a manager
