Ashton's POV
I'm upset with Kaylee. Why would she want to go see her dad? He's done nothing good for her. He left her when she was a delicate little girl who needed her father. Any child would and does need their father. Or a father. Perhaps a dad. Kaylee's baby wasn't mine, but I would have loved that precious being as my own. And since we aren't really going to meet my parents for dinner, I should apologize to her. This is supposed to be a good night, and I was out of line.
"I'm sorry, babe." I look over to her briefly, but receive no answer. Her eyes are fixed out the window to who knows what. "Seriously. After thinking about it, if you really want to go see your dad, then I think you should. And I'll go with you. That way if something goes wrong, I'll be here for you." I say. I don't really think she should, but I don't want her to be mad at me. Her head snaps toward me.
"What? Really?" She beams. I sigh and try to avoid eye contact, but it's not hard considering I'm driving. I regret saying she could go now. But then again she is her own person and she can do whatever she wants. But I already know she won't go with out my approval.
"Yeah. But I still think you should think about it more, maybe even talk to your mom, or more about it with me. I don't think you should gallop over there all happy and forgive him that easily." I huff.
"Gallop? I'm not a horse. And I want it to be the right time, and the right place." She explains.
"Well I really don't want you go with out me." I scold the thought of her with her father, alone.
"Well you don't seem very open to going with me." She points out.
"I just don't think that this is a good idea, and it'd be worse if I didn't go. If you want to go, I want to support you in that decision, but I want to apart of that decision. Well I want you to take me with you." I tell her.
"Well if you want to go with me, you can. I want you to go with me, but i don't want you to be in a bad mood." She sighs. I think of what say but can't think of anything. I can't promise that I won't have a little bit of an attitude against her father. And she should have one too.
"We can talk about this later. We're here." I pull into a parking lot and park the car.
Kaylee's POV
I know Ashton can't promise me to be in a better mood around my father, and I can't expect him to either. He really resents my father for doing what he did. Ashton has been there for me more in the past six months than my father has my entire life. And I need Ashton a lot more than I need my father.
We walk into the restaurant and I feel a little weird. I don't see Ashton's parents anywhere and he looks a little excited. We walk up to the hostess and Ashton pulls me closer.
"Reservations." Ashton says and points to a name on the list. He kept me away from looking at it and I know he's hiding something.
Ashton pulls on my arm gently and I lift my hand to grab his instead of him grabbing my arm. I try to think of what could be going on, but I'm completely lost examining the space. It's elegant and very fancy. We're lead back through two huge doors and right when I look in front of me, I jump back a little, but smile wide.
"SURPRISE!!" Everyone yells.
"What are you guys doing?" I ask offering Mariah and Devin a quick hug. Everyone is smiling at me and Bree comes over to me.
"They did this for us. For all that we do for people." She smiles at me.
"What? What I do? That's you Bree, you do everything." Before she can reply Raven bumps in, getting everyone's attention.
