Devin's P.O.V.

Mariah and I enter a room and quickly greet Bree and Kaylee.

"Easy." Bree whispers as I hug her. She doesn't sound like herself at all. Her voice is weak and quiet, when it's usually full and loud.

She has bloodshot red puffy eyes and the parts of her skin that are visible are covered in bruises, so I assume the rest of her body is too. There's multiple tiny cuts all over her face and down her arms. She doesn't make much of an effort to hug me back, which I don't expect her to.

"Hi Kay." I say hugging Kaylee.

Her bruises aren't as bad as Bree's, and I'm assuming it's because she's a boxer. The cuts she has are deeper and there's more of them. Their faces would be pale if they weren't bruised so badly. Kaylee's eyes are bloodshot and red and puffy too. I never thought Kaylee would cry through anything, but she has through this, and I kind of feel relieved that she's showing some emotion.

"I'm so sorry." Mariah cries.

"Stop, you have nothing to be sorry for." Kaylee says. Her voice, too, is weak and barely audible. Neither of them sound or look like themselves and it's almost scary, but I know it's them, and that makes me feel better.

"So what happened to Alex? And the other one. We heard he had a partner." I ask.

"Alex, uh. Well he's dead. And Jason is being charged and sentenced to jail. The police are coming in later to take pictures of our bodies for evidence." Kaylee says. Her voice cracks here and there, but she tries to talk anyways.

"He's dead?" Mariah questions.

"Ashton." Bree says and that's all it takes for us to understand and nod our heads slowly.

"Bree, I'm sorry for fighting with Harry and making you leave. If I didn't accuse him of anything we wouldn't have fought and you wouldn't have been taken." I say and look at her with tears in my eyes.

"Don't blame this on yourself. I was going to leave at some point that day anyways. I needed to look for Kaylee." She says.

"Why would you come look for me if the boys had it handled?" Kaylee questions politely.

"I couldn't just sit there and do nothing anymore." She answers.

Kaylee sighs and we make small talk for a little while. It's nice to just be us four again. I know that the setting isn't exactly comforting but at least they're making an effort to smile through the pain and hurt they feel. I'm glad Mariah and I could help them and make them feel better.

Not long after we have a mini laughing session, the doctor comes in. He looks at us and we get up to leave.

"Can they stay, please? They're the only family we have." Kaylee lies. The doctor sighs.

"If that's what you wish." He speaks softly then takes a seat in his doctor seat thing. "How are you feeling?" He asks them. They reply with 'okay' at the same time, then forces a smile at him

"Well I have some good and bad news for you." He tilts his glasses down to look at them.

"Is something wrong?" I ask worriedly.

"Kaylee and Bree will have to stay here for a couple more nights. They aren't allowed to leave until the swelling goes down." He says. I nod and wait for him to continue. "As for the good news, neither if you are internally bleeding or infected." He smiles at them.

They look at us and relief is washed over their faces. Bree sighs and the doctor gets up to leave.

"Are Ashton and Harry still here?" Bree asks.
