Do I deserve this?

Third pov

For a long while, Ace thought that he wasn't competent enough to raise two kids, and then have a total femme fatale (who also happened to be a warrior princess hailing from two kingdoms of different species) as a wife. He often felt like he didn't deserve such beautiful children. Moreover, he also felt like he didn't deserve to have Princess Lucifer D Roza Itami as a loving wife.

'How..how did I end up with all of these good things in my life? I'm a low life, a man with demon blood. How could they ever love me?' Ace would think to himself.

Ace watched his 10year old son, Creed, play with his 7 year daughter, Alice. They ran around the field in the front yard, playing pirates with sticks. Creed was the captain, leading his pirate crew, and Alice was the little sniper, skillfully shooting the Marines down, and leading Creeds pirate crew to victory.

"I now own this land!" Creed yells at the top of his lungs. "I will keep these people safe! The Marines can bugger off!" Then, Creed changes his voice to a badly high pitched females voice, "Oh dear captain! How can I ever repay you? You're oh so heroic!" He then switched back to his normal voice, "Well m'lady, you can repay me with a smile!" Alice laughed with her big brother, "You weenie!"

Meanwhile, Ace caught a glimpse of his wife in the garden. She too was watching her dear children play around while chuckling & smiling to herself. Immediately, Ace found himself falling love with her all over again, even though she was walking around with a big, wide brimmed sunhat, a old white summer dress & a pair of gumboots, whilst being slightly covered in soil. Ace so badly just wanted to scoop her up, make her laugh, and just marry her all over again.  Itami caught Aces eye, and smiled a bright smile that'd cause the sun to explode. She walked up to Ace, chucking her gardening gloves to the side. She put her hands on her hips as she stared down at him.

"Ace why do you look so down?" She asked.

The question even caught Ace by surprise. He wanted to hide from her suddenly. Maybe because he felt ashamed that if he told Itami the truth, she'd cast him away with a heartless look in her emerald green eyes.

"Itami..." he said in a weak tone, "What did I ever do to deserve you...to deserve this happiness?" He asked so quietly.

It was Itami's turn to be caught by surprise. She rested her arms by her sides, and sat down next to her beloved. She finally gave Ace a look that was filled with love & loyalty; a look that even made his heart skip millions of beats. She cupped his freckled cheek.

"Oh Ace...." she said so gently, "My love, you deserve this indefinitely. What you did that made all of this happen..was that you gave me a reason to fight even harder than before, was that you actually saw past my exterior, and saw me for who I am. You loved me, and I love you. Creed loves you. Alice loves you." She wiped away the tears that were quietly slipping down his cheeks, "Ace, don't you ever forget that. Don't ever forget that there are people out there that love you, and will do anything they can to protect you & fight for you. I'll fight tooth & nail for you all over again if I hate to."

She leaned her forehead against his, and stared into his chocolate brown eyes. Ace knew that this was Itami's way of comforting him: Withe gentle words & forehead touching. Ace found it calming whenever Itami did this, he felt like everything was going to be okay.

"Ace...if this is about Roger, then its okay. I'm here for you. Sure you may have the blood of a demon, but I have blood of a evil man that wanted to destroy this world, but we stopped him. I'm sure Roger would've been a way better man than my Father was...but the thing is, is that every baby is born without their parents sins. You were born without your Fathers sins. Even Creed & Alice, and I will admit that we have done some crime but, we had our reasons. What I'm trying to say is, is that no matter what I love you, and that You shouldn't think about why you don't deserve any of this, when in fact, you do."

It was silent until they heard their kids running over to them. They were unbelievably fast kids, they had inherited their Mothers long legs & enhanced Shinigami abilities. Creed immediately ran over to his Father, and ran into his arms.

"Dad! Dad! I own a island now! I defeated all these Marines, and saved the people!" Creef said happily as he hugged his Father. Alice stared at both of her parents with furrowed eyebrows, as she could clearly tell that her Mum & Dad had been talking seriously moments ago. Alice reached up to her Dads face, and started wiping at Aces cheeks, "Don't cry, Daddy. Only sad people cry, and Daddy is a happy man, he's even happier with Mama." Creed looked up at his Dad, "Dad? Why are you crying?"

Ace smiled, then laughed as he brought all of his kids, and his wife into a loving hug. He kissed all three of them on the head, and hugged him close.

"Because I'm happy! Because all three of you have made me the happiest man alive!" Ace said happily. Alice cuddled into her Fathers embrace, "I love you Dad." Creed grinned up at Ace, "Yeah Dad! I love you!" Itami kissed her husbands cheek, "I love you dearly, Ace."
