Third pov
Everything was going according to plan, Ace had once thought. Everyone was doing their bit in order to survive escaping from Akainu, who had caught up with the Whitebeard pirates in a nick of time at a island

'But wait.' Ace suddenly thought. 'Where is Itami?'

His love was nowhere to be seen. He tried his best to keep up with the body trails she made, but she seemed to be going where ever the big group of people were. Ace could almost smile about that, thats just like her.

'Maybe she's having trouble, I better go find her.'

After easily defeating a Marine squad, Ace set out to find Itami. He ran everywhere, trying to find the emerald eyed beauty.

"What the-"

But then he stood to a stop, when he came across a burnt down land. Immediately, Ace started feeling anchor weight dread settle within him. He felt that when he goes in, he won't like what he'll see. But, really there was only one way to find out how this land turned out like this.

So he ran inside the ash land, and proceeded his search for Itami. Each step he took, he'd flick up ash. Along the way, Ace spotted a familiar cap that spelled our 'MARINE' in big letters. Ace stopped to pick it up, and confirmed that it was Akainu's.

"I have a bad feeling about this.."

Ace carried on, till he stopped at a creator. Ace squinted as he saw something at the bottom of the creator. But...his heart ran cold, when he saw that the thing in the middle of the creator, was a someone, and that someone, was Itami.

"ITAMI!"

Immediately, Ace ran down the creator, even tripped along the way. He scrambled up on his feet, and cradled Itami in his tanned arms. She looked pale, and was loosing colour in her skin. Her left arm was burnt, she was absolutely covered in blood, dirt, and unsealable wounds. Her blood dripped out of her mouth, and down her white blouse. Her clothes, were worn down, and even torn in dome places.

"Ace..." She groaned out. "I...killed him.."
"I-I don't care about that!" Ace cried, his tears running down his face. "W-what am I gonna do?!"
She smiled weakly. "I'm just glad...that you're alive." She coughed out more blood. "Better you..than me, Ace. You say you're trash..but I think that you're precious.."

Ace held Itami closer, his tears running down her neck. She bit her lip, trying to stop herself from crying. Weakly, she reached up, and petted his black hair that she loved so much.

"Please..." Ace whimpered. "Stay with me, Itami! I still want you here! Please! I-I'll get a doctor-"
"No...Ace..this is my end of the line. I..I can't push on any further.."

Ace pulled away, and stared into her eyes. He could even see it. This really was happening. Life was flickering on & off in Itami's big, emerald eyes. Ace could see himself through her eyes.

"Itami..." Ace sobbed.

Itami reached up gingerly, and cupped his freckled cheek. Her thumb ran over his tear stained skin ever so gently like a feather.

"You're so..so handsome & sweet.." She breathed out. "You kept me going, Ace..I would've given up on everything, if I hadn't met you....you helped me see things f-from a different perspective." Itami started to cry. "If it weren't for you...I would've..-" She didn't finish her sentence.

Ace kissed her wrist, then leaned his forehead on hers. Itami managed to smile brightly.

"Its over...Ace. I'm done...I don't have much time left.."
Ace clenched his eyes shut.

"Ace..look at me...I wanna see your eyes..one last time."
Ace opened his eyes.
"Now listen to me...Tell everyone that..thank you for sticking with me. You all have done so much for me..but I am sorry, I have go. I want to stay...but-" Itami started to sob. "The Earth doesn't need me anymore, and now...Aunty Death wants me. So..thank you! I'm not dead....the only time I'm dead is when your memory of me is gone. Ace..." Its her final breath. "Thank you for loving me!"

Itami sucked in her last breath. Her hand slid off Aces cheek, and went limp (like the rest of her body) on the ground beside Ace. As Itami's eyes closed slowly, her lips etched up in a beautiful smile.

Ace stared down at Itami with wide, tearful eyes.

"Itami...?" He called helplessly.

She didn't even flinch.

"Hey...wake up."

Memories of all his time with her flashed in his mind. Memories of her laughing, of her loving him & of her being his wonderful girlfriend.

"Itami..!" Ace cried.

And then, he could feel himself crash & burn within his mind. Ace let out a loud cry to the sky, and held Itami's limp, lifeless body close to him.

"No no! Itami! Love! Come back!"

He cried even harder, as he could still smell her musk:cinnamon & raspberries. Her hair was as soft as cats fur, while her cold dead skin still felt smooth.

"ITAMI!" Ace cried out over & over, until finally, he went into shock.
