It's been three days since that moment that changed my life.

It's all my fault. If I had prioritized saving Franz. If I had just known this would happen...

If I had done those things, Marco wouldn't be here. I had to choose whose life to sacrifice without knowing the outcome. I can't dwell on past choices because I am human and I will make mistakes. Some bigger than others, but I will fail and I will hurt people without wanting to.

Hannah was a part of Marco's original squad, so it feels awkward being around him. I just want to hug him and apologize for everything. Luckily, he doesn't know I had traded his life for Hannah's, so at least he isn't burdened with that guilt.

I need to be like Levi, I have to move on quickly and mourn later. I have enough other problems to deal with.

It doesn't seem to be a good time to get Marco with Jean, so let's come back to that one.

Let's work on saving Eren's life (again).

I casually walked to the stables to grab my horse, Jean, to find the original horseface himself was in there too. Looks like someone had stable duty, and they weren't happy about it.

He seemed to be lost in thought and didn't notice I had walked in. That is, until I lightly punched his arm.

"Oh, hey [f/n]..."

"Hello, horseface. How's your day going?"

"It's going alright. Just thinking."

"What'cha thinkin' about?"

"Marco. He hasn't been talking to me since we got back from Trost. I just wanted to know if he's doing okay. He's my best friend."

"Don't you mean your only friend? And ouch. Friendzoned."

"Okay, rude. And what?"

"Nothing. I can assure you that Marco isn't mad at you or anything. He just... has a lot on his mind."

"How do you know? Is something wrong? Can I help him at all?"

"No, he really needs to work through this on his own for a bit. Although, talking to him wouldn't hurt."

"Thanks, [f/n]. Anyway, what are you doing here?"

I'm heading out the Survey Corps. HQ. I'm here for my horse, Jeanbo."

Jean glared at me for a second before dropping the brush he was using on his own horse and noped out of the stables.

I walked over to Jeanbo (the horse) and jumped on, not bothering to grab a saddle.

"Let's go."
