10 hours, lots of arguments between the superiors, and lots of physical work later, the three of us returned to our rooms. I followed Petra to the showers; no need to upset Levi with my uncleanliness. Seeing as we still had half an hour before dinner, the two of us just sat on our beds and chatted about random things.
It turns out, she does like Auruo but is too worried about when they will die to confess. My thoughts revolved back to the fact that they're all supposed to die in a little over a month. I was crying when I watched Squad Levi die on a screen, I don't think I could take knowing that I could have prevented their deaths. I must save them, no matter the cost, they are the last chance humanity has as of now.
"[f/n]? Are you alright? You seem to be lost in thought."
I shook my head "I'm fine, just... worrying about the expedition." Technically that isn't a lie, I am worrying about an expedition just not the one she would be expecting.
"Oh don't worry! I know this is your first expedition, you should be a little nervous. Don't worry about it too much though, we'll make sure you're okay."
Emotions overwhelmed me. Although she may just be saying that because of my power, it feels like I have been accepted by the squad. Like I belong in this world.
"Thank you Petra. I will do my best to protect you too."
"Aww. No problem [f/n]! Anyways, let's head down to dinner, Corporal won't be happy if we're late."
"Good point. Let's go!"
We laughed and talked as we approached the doors to our little dining room. Once again, I had the privilege of sitting with my new squad. Wow. My squad? That's gonna take some getting used to.
~*~ Time skip at dinner. Not a lot of talking, nothing important said ~*~
I laid in bed, unable to fall asleep. Petra's soft snoring could be heard from the other side of the room.
Will I be able to pull this off? What if I can't save them all? With those thoughts, I finally fell asleep, only to be woken by nightmares of death.
