phil's pov
why is this day going by so slow?
my mom has come to check on me multiple times throughout the day, but i still feel...lonely.
i know i'm not, there are nurses and doctors and patients rushing and being rushed through the halls and nurses constantly flooding into my room to give me more meds, and more and more.
i still feel lonely.
i know, i know, its pathetic.
i can't even go a few hours without my boyfriend, it sounds like a cliche teen novel, just give it a cheesy title and there you go.
i turn onto my side and try to sleep. i close my eyes, but they keep managing to flutter open every time i hear footsteps or a phone ringing in the distance.
i find the remote for the small, flat screen tv hanging against the wall across from me and flip through channels.
eventually, i fall upon a dramatic spanish soap opera, after just a few minutes i'm completely involved with this woman slapping her (soon to be ex) husband across the face as the argue in spanish. i laugh, i cry, i smile, i frown, and genuinely have a good time. a nurse comes in with more meds and asks what im watching.
"i have no fucking clue, but its amazing."
the nurse laughs and watches the ending of the episode with me.
after its over, i look over to see the nurse with tears running down her face.
"what about the children?"
"i know! how could they do that to them?!"
i hear a knock at the door, and we're interrupted by dan. the nurse gets up and leaves to give us privacy.
"hey." he says, and comes over to sit down next to me.
"is it 3 already?" i say
"you having fun?"
"yeah! you should totally watch this with me later."
he laughs "i will."
"you okay?" i ask, he looks really tired
"yeah, yeah." he mutters
"no you aren't, what's wrong?" i try to read his facial expression.
"im fine." he says sharply.
"okay, i believe you." his lip begins to tremble.
he throws himself into me and starts to sob hysterically, his entire body shaking.
"dan? what's wrong?!"
he doesn't answer, he just continues to sob.
i pull him closer.
