"dan, what's wrong?" he's shaking uncontrollably in my arms.
"its okay, it's gonna be okay." i pull him closer "it's okay."
later, he settles down and tries to tell me what happened.
"i- they-th-they-" he starts sobbing again,
"its okay." he cries into my shoulder. "just breathe. in and out."
he eventually falls asleep next to me on the uncomfortable, boring, hospital bed. he's snoring softly. i wonder what he's dreaming about...
