The Dragon Princess

Chapter 11

Lucy POV:
Once we reached the hotel we were all given rooms, I although had to sleep in the cellar. It wasn't too bad however, there was a small coal fire that filled the room with a soft warm glow and there was hay for the horses to eat which would work as a nice bed. Sakura and I walked down to the cellar following the manager of the hotel, all she asked was that I add coal to the fire through the night to keep everyone in the hotel warm. I nodded and then made my self comfortable, there was an old blanket on the floor which would work as a sheet cover so I arranged the hay so it was like a bed, adding some coal to the fire I decided to eat some. Holding a stick out to the flames I placed it into the fire lighting it on fire, bringing it out I watched the flames dance softly in the slight draft that filled the room. Not wanting the flames to burn out I popped them quickly into my mouth.

"Any good?" A male voice asks me.

I nod swallowing the flames as the voice came closer, only to reveal it was Natsu. He came and sat down next to me, taking the stick from my hands he placed it back into the flames. Eating some himself.

"It's not too bad, I've had better. Too cold down here?" He asks me looking at our surroundings.

"No it's ok, I'll be nice and warm once I'm asleep. Especially with Sakura." I say as she walks over sitting in my lap.

Natsu looks at Sakura and then gives her a stroke which causes her to start purring, we sit there in silence then watching the flames leap off the coals.

"What was it like where you lived?" He asks me.

"Like nothing you can imagine, I lived with the dragons." I say smiling at the memory.

"Wait DRAGONS?" He asks intrigued.

"Yeah, my mother Celestia is the queen of the dragons and her element is Celestial dragon magic. With her I lived in the castle and when I was three I started learning the dragon slayer magics, once you've mastered one of them it's not too difficult to master the others. That's why my hair and eyes are the way they are, when I was born I had blonde hair and green eyes but the more magic I developed the lighter my hair and eyes became." I say as he stares at me.

"What was Igneel like?" He asks thinking about his father.

"He was a big softie, he would play with me and he was always willing to help me get out of my lessons. He talked about you all the time you know, if I was angry or had a tantrum he said I reminded him of you." I say softly. "He missed you loads."

Natsu stares at the fire while I talk about him and I notice tears fall down his cheeks, I gulp and then move away slowly.

"Please don't be angry with me Natsu, I didn't mean to make you sad." I say holding my hands in defence.

"It's not your fault, it's just all the things I care about either leave me or die. Just like Lucy..." He whispers.

"What was she like?" I ask sitting down on my hay bed yawning slightly.

"How about I tell you after we finish the job? For now go to sleep, we'll be leaving early in the morning so someone will come and walk you." He says and pats my head before he walks out.

I lie down and then quickly fall asleep ready for tomorrow..
-The next day-

I was woken by Grey who basically to wake me up, picked me up and tickled me. Which I didn't enjoy, well not all of it anyway. We walked to the second floor where the main entrance is, I was exited for the day's events because I would be able to see Frost and send her back. I hadn't told anyone about my true plan but I knew that they wouldn't let me go alone, part of being an elemental dragon slayer is I can sense where a dragon is. It helped me when I was playing hide and seek with Iggy, he couldn't find me but I would always be able to find him. Wendy this time gave me a coat that she had packed in her bag so I was nice and warm, we headed out under the tunnels of snow to the surface and began our search.

"Did anyone say where they saw the beast?" I ask Erza.

"They said the beast was seen by a frozen lake, which is this way I believe." Erza says pointing into the forest.

I began to walk quickly desperate to be reunited with Frost, everyone seemed to have their own idea of where the lake  was. This then caused Natsu and Grey to start fighting, which then lead to Erza smashing their heads together. I walked over to Erza and tugged on her coat.

"Miss Erza, are those tracks over there?" I ask pointing to some small footprints.

"Good eye Lucy, let's follow them. Boys!" She yells to Grey and Natsu.

We set off walking and I can't help but let my excitement grow, we walked to the frozen lake and then the tracks stopped. The air was deathly still and the area surrounding the lake was silent, Erza took a look and then decided to take a scout around the perimeter of the lake. Natsu was paired with me and Sakura went with Wendy and the other exceeds, we set off walking following some other tracks and that's when I saw her. Her white and blue scales shining in the early morning light and her wings opening slightly at the sight of us, I began to walk towards her but Natsu pulled me back.

"It's a dragon Lucy, stay back!" He yelled holding my arm tightly.

"She won't hurt me Natsu!" I yelled in his face.

Frost saw this as an act of aggression toward me so sent a Snow Dragon Roar directly at Natsu, who of corse thought that Frost was evil so began sending attacks at her. I tried to stop him but every time I tried he would push me back, soon the others arrived and began helping Natsu to fight Frost, I whistled to Sakura who flew over and picked me up. She then dropped me down just as everyone sent a combined attack, Frost shielded me with her wing causing her wing great damage. She whimpered slightly as she looked at me with her ice cool eyes.

"Stop attacking her!" I yell at the others.

"She attacked first!" Natsu yelled.

"Because she thought you were trying to hurt me! She's my friend!" I yelled placing my hand onto Frost's head. "She's only a hatchling, she doesn't understand much yet." I say softly.

They all look at me in awe as my hair turns a sky blue colour to match my now blue eyes, I held my unshackled hand over Frost's damaged wing and then began to heal it. Wendy saw what I was doing so came over to help me, with our combined magic her wing was fixed in no time. Frost then lowered her head and curled up obviously tired from the fighting that just happened, so I stroked her head softly while she slept.

"I'll send you home in the morning, don't worry. You'll see mama soon." I whispered as everyone watched in awe.
