Natsu POV:
The council members leave the guild and almost instantly everyone begins to protest.
"How can they do that to a child?!" Levy yells.
"It's just cruel!" Cana cries holding her deck of cards.
Everyone begins to chime in with their own cries of protest, I walk down to Lucy's cell and unlock it. Looking inside I notice her sitting in the corner with her head resting on her knees, shaking softly with silent sobs I walk over and place a hand on her head. She looks up at me with those soft grey eyes and she looks terrified.
"Hey come on Lucy, there is no way Master is going to let you leave ok." I say trying to be positive.
"Its the magic council Natsu, Master won't have any choice. They could disband Fairy Tail if you don't let me go." She says sniffing.
She wipes her eyes and then runs a hand through her hair, she puts on a brave face and then smiles at me.
"Dont worry Natsu, I'll be ok. Just promise me one thing." She says as she begins to walk out of the cell.
"Whats that?" I ask looking at the small girl.
"I want you to take care of my keys for me, when I'm gone I mean. I want you to have the Dragon Keys and find their slayers, give them the key of their parent. And give my Zodiac keys to another celestial spirit wizard." She says giving me a weak smile.
I stare at her in shock, having just been told that she's going to be executed she's being really brave. I can't stop my self and I soon find my arms wrapping around her and pulling her into my embrace, her small arms wrap around my neck. We sit there for a couple of minutes and then make our way back up to the guild hall, everything seems to have quietened down now although people still look broken by the news.
"Hey Cana can you teach me how to read the cards again please?" Lucy asks walking over to the Brunette.
Cana looks at her with moist eyes but smiles, Lucy walks over as Cana lays out the cards.
"Right so this is how it works." Cana explains.
Through the rest of the day then Lucy spend time with each guild member, painting with Reedus, racing with Jet, reading with Levy, cooking with Mirajane, Erza and Lisanna. She makes sure that everyone is smiling by the end of the day, sitting down at one of the tables I watch how everyone seems to be in a better mood even though Lucy's going to be killed. As the day fades into night Lucy looks exhausted, but she keeps smiling until Mirajane begins to turn down the lights.
Lucy POV:
I place my head down on the table and sigh, Mirajane walks over and passes me a plate with my supper on it. Chicken, mashed potatoes and peas. I smile at her and begin to eat, its just her, Sakura and me alone in the guild hall apart from Master who left for his office after the council left. She sits down opposite me with a steaming cup of tea.
"How are you doing Lucy?" She asks me as I pick up my fork.
"Not too bad, I'm tired and not really looking forward to sleeping in the cell tonight." I reply yawning.
Sakura pads over and sits next to me, she snuggles into my side and then looks up at me. I haven't told her yet but I was going to ask if she could stay with Mirajane after everything has been dealt with, but Sakura might possibly want to go back to our home.
"Have you thought of running away?" Mirajane asks disturbing my thoughts.
"Running away?" I ask finishing my food.
"Yeah, like going back to your home. Back to where you came from I mean, I bet your family miss you?" She says taking a sip from her cup.
"They do miss me, but I came here for a reason. I came here because I have a destiny to be fulfilled, but I guess they were wrong about me. I'm nothing special." I say feeling the tears finally begin to fall down my cheeks.
"Oh Lucy." Mirajane says moving to sit next to me.
She pulls me onto her lap and rocks me while I sob, I didn't want anyone to see me like this because I wanted them to think that I was brave.
"What did I do wrong Mira?" I ask as she strokes my hair.
"You didn't do anything wrong Lucy, the council are just. Afraid. They don't know about your magic like we do, come with me. I want to show you something." She says.
We stand up and Mirajane passes me a small shawl, wrapping it around my shoulders I follow her down the quiet streets of Magnolia. She leads me past Cardia Cathedral and into a grave yard, I move a little closer to her as she holds a lantern. She stops at one Gravestone and kneels down to brush some of the autumn leaves from it, looking at the name written there I get a little confused.
"Mirajane, who's Lucy Heartfilia?" I ask reading the name written in a cursive hand on the stone.
"She was a guild member who was killed on a job, it was a week before you came to us. So when you came everyone was still devastated by Lucy's death, but we never forgot her. And I want you to know that you'll never be forgotten by us, and I know that we will do everything in our power to keep you with us." Mirajane says smiling at me, but I can see the tears falling from her eyes.
A sudden twig snapping causes me and Mirajane to flinch, we look around the dark graveyard and dark figures begin to walk towards us.
"I thought we killed the celestial wizard." One says smiling darkly.
"Lucy get behind me." Mirajane says as she changes into her satan's soul.
I stand behind her as a large number of dark guild members appear. I glance at the neck of one of the members to see his guild mark and notice its the guild Dragons Vengeance, these are the people...
Who killed Lucy!
