The Dragon Princess

Chapter 17

Lucy POV:

As I lie sitting in the sun I cant help but smile, I've been with Fairy Tail for about three months now which makes me think that the council might have forgotten about me. I know they will never truly forget about me but I can hope and dream, they forgot about me plenty of times when I was in my cell at the council prison. I stand up and flex my arms taking another deep breath of air before I head into the guild, I still help to cook and clean but my time is mostly spent going on jobs with Natsu and his team. As I walk into the guild people smile and wave at me, Sakura comes and sits on my shoulder as I walk to my broom. Seizing it in my hands I head to the front steps of the guild hall and begin to sweep them, Master said he hates the mud that collects there so I offered to clean them once I'd finished the inside of the guild hall.

"Hey there Lucy, not too hot out here is it?" Erza asks walking over to me next to a halt naked Grey.

"Your clothes Grey!" Sakura yells while I cover my eyes.

"When did this start happening again?!" He yells and then runs into the guild hall.

"Its not too hot out here Erza, besides if it is I'll adjust. It was hotter than this when I trained with Solar, she was the sun dragon and boy did she have a temper!" I yell shaking at the memory.

"Well try not to work too hard, we'll be leaving for a job soon. I'll send someone out to get you when its time to get ready to leave." She says and walks into the guild.

"Ok Erza, thanks!" I yell and continue to sweep.

Finishing the stairs I sit down and wipe the sweat from my head, its so hot today! I pull out my water bottle and take a small sip, then placing some into my hand I put it onto the back of my neck shivering at the feeling of cool water dripping down my spine. Then I pull my boots off and lie back, not caring about the steps that dig into my back.

"I miss home." Sakura says sitting next to me.

"I didn't think you missed it because you never speak about it, I miss it too. I especially miss mama....Do you think my communication orb will work here?" I ask my pink feline friend.

"It might work, couldn't hurt yo try could it!" She says smiling at me.

"Lets do it behind the guild hall so no one can see us, I don't want to make them think that we're doing something wrong." I say running to the back of the guild hall behind a fence.

Sitting down with my knees tucked underneath my skirt I hold both my hands out, I haven't used this spell in a long time so it might not work. Focusing my magic energy into my hands I create a small pale golden orb, I then lower my hands and let the orb float in the air.

"Is someone there? Its me Lucy, Princess Lucy Dragonite." I say waiting for some type of reply.

Nothing.

"Please say that someone's there, I'm feeling so lost right now....I miss home..." I whisper as the tears fall.

"Lucy my dear?" A soft female voice says from within the orb.

I sniff and then speak again.

"Yes its me, who's this?" I ask.

"Its me Aunt Dina, I can't believe you managed to get this spell to work." She says softly and I can almost picture the smile on her face.

"Aunt Dina! I miss you so much! Please ask mama if I can come home, I can't be here for much longer...I'm scared..." I say and begin to cry again.

"Dear child, I understand that you feel lost but you need to keep at it. You won't be there for much longer, I hope you don't mind me asking but...How is Wendy? I miss her deeply almost as much as I miss you." She asks.

"She's good, she's a good friend even though she's been through so much. She misses you, and Iggy's son misses him. Can I speak to Mama? Is she there?" I ask eager.

"She's in a meeting right now, but if you'd like I can pass on a message to her."

"Can you tell her that I miss her and love her? And ask if I'm making her proud?" I say and notice the orb begin to fizzle.

"Tell my folks I miss them too!" Sakura yells.

"Good bye my dears, and Lucy." Aunt Dina says before the spell disappears.

"Yes?" I ask fighting to keep it going.

"Your mother isn't the only one who's proud of you, we all are." She whispers and then the spell fades.

I watch as the gold glitter fades and blows away in the wind, standing up I tie my hair into a high pony tail and then march to the front of the guild hall. Taking my broom in my hands I walk back inside and place it back into the storage cupboard, I then walk to the bar and Mirajane pours me a tall glass of ice cold lemonade.

"Thanks Mira!" I shout picking up the glass, taking a deep sip I glance over at Cana who's reading her cards.

"What are you doing?" I ask sitting down opposite her.

"Reading the future, and it doesn't look good." She says with a frown on her face.

"How bad does it look?" I ask picking Sakura up in my arms.

"Lets just say the fights we've done in the past won't hold a candle to the one thats coming, might need you to pitch in Lucy." She says pulling me into her arms.

"Kayaa!" I exclaim falling into her lap while she tickles me.

Cana and I have become close these past couple of months, when I would be sitting in my cell she would come to the window and talk to me. She's even taught me the basics of reading fortunes.

"Want to try reading my future?" She asks running a hand through my hair.

"Sure, how do I start it again?" I ask and she shows me how to shuffle the cards and then how to lay them out.

"Hey Lucy! We're heading out!" Natsu yells to me smiling.

"Coming! Can we do this when I get back Cana?" I say glancing back at her.

"Sure Lucy, have fun!"

With that I run over to the others and we head out on our next adventure.

Cana POV:

This doesn't look good, glancing down at the cards that Lucy dealt I know this fight could be where our world ends. Or possibly where a light returns.

"Everything ok Cana?" Master asks me while he takes a sip of his beer.

"No Master, everything isn't ok...."
