Failed Dreams

Just like the title of this chapter, it's about Hwasa and Wheein's failed dreams. They met very young. They became close friends after realizing they had the same dream; to become an idol. Throughout school, they skipped class together. They were technically "excused" to go audition but sometimes, they didn't even audition. When they skipped they did things like eat, sing to each other, dance, run around, things kids do. They even got caught and punished together. For most of their childhood and teenage years, they just remember skipping school or chasing their dreams. They finally gave up their dream when they were in line for an audition and Hwasa says
"Should I give up?"
Wheein was surprised and answered
"No! We're in this together!"
"We are but... You know I can't debut."
"Why not? Any company is lucky to have you."
"No, I'm fat and ugly..."
"WHO SAID THAT?"

Wheein was furious, but it was true. In Wheein's eyes, Hwasa is a perfect human being but Korean standards are different. She knew just as well as Hwasa that no matter how much skill she has, visuals are more important to companies. She also knows that many companies have dissed Hwasa's weight and have called her ugly before so instead of letting Hwasa answer it herself.
"It doesn't matter who said it because it's not true."
"Wheein-"
"Stop. We'll quit together."
"Wheein ah~"
"I hate the Korean pop industry. Everyone is so judgemental."
"It was your dream though..."
"Not anymore. My dream is to be happy and I can't be happy when I'm stressing about everyone's opinion."
"Okay, let's leave and never come back?"
"Yeah, let's go."

They left and vowed to never return to the cruel world of entertainment. To their astonishment, there was no regret. That night, for the first time, they drank. They started to look back at old memories.
