Chapter Twenty-Six

***

Asher pulled into the driveway of a packed mansion. It was huge and nice underneath all the toilet paper, red solo cups, and half naked-sweaty teens running everywhere.

We got out of the car and I grabbed Asher's hand, hurrying through the large crowd of people who were making me claustrophobic. We walked inside, which was much worse than outside.

Many teens were dancing and kissing. Others were on tables, drunkenly dancing and throwing things around. My eyes widen.

"You never been to a party before?" Asher whispered in my ear and I shook my head.

"Nope, so I am going to grab us some drinks and meet you at the dance floor," I say, heading to the least crowded room in the house. The kitchen.

There were few people, grabbing drinks and kissing against the counters. I made my way through them and went to the drink section.

I grabbed two red solo cups and filled one with beer and the other with lemonade. I looked around and saw people leaving and heading upstairs. Okay, ew.

I started dancing through the crowds of people and towards the dance floor. I squeezed through and stated searching for Asher. It didn't help much because I am a short person surrounded by many-many, tall people.

I groaned and kept walking until I made it to the back door.

"Urgh. I need to find Asher," I mutter to myself. A girl taps me on the shoulder and I turn around, coming face to face with a tall, platinum blonde.

"Uhm, I didn't mean to intrude-" her voice is very-very high pitched. "-but did you say you were looking for Asher?"

"Yes, actually. Do you know where he is?" I ask, dumbfounded. She nods and points to the glass door, leading to the large backyard. My eyebrows pull together and I turn around. I look around for a minute, not seeing him, but then, he comes into focus.

I was making out with a girl and she was holding him to the wall. He wasn't stopping her even though he could. My mouth opened and the cups dropped out of my hand, spilling all over the hardwood floor. Tears well in my eyes and I open the door without thinking.

No, I don't want to talk to him.

My mouth obviously doesn't care because I start speaking. "H-how could you Asher?" My voice comes out shaky and small. He quickly pulls away from the Indiana Evans look alike. His mouth drops and he walks up to me, reaching for my hand.

I shake my head and pull away. He looks sad and pleading. "Please. Elle. It isn't what it looks like, I promise. Please. Give me time to explain."

"I can't. You betrayed my trust. I can't do this," I say just before running off and into the large crowd. Tears start spilling from my eyes and I make it outside. Everything is blurry and I don't have a car. Oh well. I take off my heels and start running. Running anywhere but here.

I will find my way home...sometime.

***

I finally got home and ran up to my room. I through my heels against the wall and they sank to the floor, just like me. I fell to the floor and started sobbing.

I gave him everything left of me and he ruins it. He crumbles the last piece of my heart that I gave to him.

   What happened to him?

   What happened to me?

   What happened to us?
