"Mind if we join?" Max heard the voice and even though she didn't know them for long she knew who it was right away.
Without waiting for a reply Dana and her posse took a seat next to them with fake smiles fixed on their face. Max put on a smile when Dana turned in her direction before looking away. "So much for a fast lunch..."
"So what are you guys eating I'm quite hungry," Dana said in a eager tone before looking down at their plates. "You eat that?" She sniff the air and seemed to want to puke as she scrunching her nose in disgust.
"You both eat meat?" She asked trying to see if she was more disgusted or shocked. Max just smiled and put her fork in the meat, "The last time I checked," she put the bite in her mouth and found it surprisingly good, "I wasn't a vegetarian."
"Well you should consider it you can lose some weight and live a healthier lifestyle, one where your not fat for the rest of your life," she said with a wicked glaze trying to provoke Max but she just smiled. "Meat doesn't cause you to gain weight," Max said through clutched teeth trying to ignore her presence. It wasn't working.
"If meat doesn't cause you to gain weight then why are you so umm not skinny? Can you even run to save your life, let alone how do you walk ten feet without fainting." Max heard the snide remark even though she was talking more to her friends as their laughter echoed through the cafe and she couldn't help it anymore.
"Oh so do you eat meat too? Or is it just not working for you... awkward," Max replied back with a sweet grin but held in her laugh when Lily started laughing.
"And what's so funny?" Dana asked sharply before she smiled at the fact that Lily winced back. "Please Dana your face is enough to make even the most funniest clowns laugh not to mention your bright personality so if you don't mind I would like to finish eating," Max said waving her hand before eating more of the meat, turning to talk to Lily.
"Fine whatever this wasn't fun anyway, girls let's go," Max heard her say before she looked up to see a hair flip as they walked away. "Wow I need to get lessons from you," Lily whispered as they walked away. Max gave her a weird look before eating more of the mystery meat, "What do you mean?"
"It's just your so confident, and I'm... not so much," Lily whispered taking a bite into the meat displaying a surprised expression when she did. "I think it's just the fact that it's a new school, back at my old school I couldn't really stand up to anyone, and when I say anyone I mean it to," Max told her softly playing around with the food on her plate.
"Well if anything I could learn a lot from you," Lily smiled at Max when she let out a nervous laugh. "Man you just always know what to say don't you," she chuckled along with her before taking another bite of the meat.
"Okay is it just me or is this meat surprisingly delicious?" Max asked Lily and found it not in the least bit surprising when she smiled and nod her head back.
"Yeah it's surprisingly good considering I picked it without really knowing what it was," Max gave her a look before just shrugging.
"Well if it isn't the two cutest girls at school," Max looked up to see Rav heading in their direction with Jason not far behind. Rav sent Lily a wink and smiled up at Max while she just rolled her eyes.
"Great you guys too," Max muttered to herself losing her appetite as Rav leaned in closer to her. "So there's this party friday, maybe if you guys want to you should come," Rav told them and then leaned forward so only Max could hear his next words his voice tickling her ear, "Oh and Jason will be there too."
Max slightly blushed and looked away before she looked up to see a hand pull Rav shoulder, putting distance between them. "Dude come on as much as I love being here we should probably head back to our training session, I think our break is over."
