Max jerked awake, tears streaming down her face as she let out a loud gasp. Blue's nail tapped her lightly and she turned to him, tears still in her eyes.
"Are you alright dear?"
Max turned to Meria this time and didn't know whether to cry again or scream. So she did neither but instead asked the question. "Why did I see this?"
"You are the next one to face him if you choose to be."
"What do you mean? Were there others after him?" She questioned her eyes widening when he nod. "Did they all die?"
"Yes. Though I must warn you he has stolen power which makes him stronger today."
"What power did he steal? Who is this guy!?"
"All answers he will tell you."
I'm losing patience. Patience was never a strong suit of mine. "Who will tell me?" She waited but he didn't reply. Sighing she just shook her head, "How old is this new Master? Is he as bad as the old Master?"
"You seemed to have misunderstood something, the whole reason he needs someone to show him where the dragons are. There is only one Master. The one than is the same one you will face today."
"But how is that possible? When was the memories I seen?"
"1793."
"Yeah, so how is this possible?" She added, giving Meria a incredulous look then giving Blue the same one.
"He's working on being immortal."
"How has he accomplished it for this long? And if it last this long why does he need someone to show him where the dragons are? Why can't he just keeping doing what he has been doing?"
"Because he can't. Here, relax on my belly again I'm going to tell you a story. It might just clear up some of your questions."
She gave him a weary look and he simply let out a loud groaning noise she soon realize was his laugh. Moving toward him she rest her head on his belly and listened with attentive ears.
"Long ago a good family came to me with a son that was dying, he was eighteen at the time and had ran into trouble with a dilitírio. An animal as black as the poison it shots out. It bit his face when he was crouching down injecting the poison. There was no hope to save him, except for us. The family were good friends of the dragons and I knew the boy long before he became the Master and he had a good heart once. We agreed to help him on one condition: that they wouldn't tell this to anyone."
"We gave them the antidote: our dragon scales. The dragon's scales can heal anyone but it does way more than that. If a person eats enough of it, it can make them immortal as we are. The poison was far in and my love for the family and the boy blinded me and made me give him more than I should had. In a great sense we cheated death and he was fully healed in less than a day. We erased the memory from the parents that showed up that day but didn't bother to erase his. We didn't think he would remember, being unconscious and all but he slowly started to piece it together. We never saw what happened next."
"Years went by and he hadn't aged. He remembered the day even though he was dying and knew it was due to my scales. He was furious, especially when his small family died out and he could simply not die. Years of never visiting us made him forget where we were and we soon moved here. He became a general to a king, using his anger to kill anyone that came in his way. He was a master sword fighter and when the king died he had a taste of that power. He became king because the king's son was long since exiled and the king trusted no one else more. But last minute they found the heir, his long lost son, and he was stripped of the crown. Furious he killed the son but two nobles saw and so he had to run, but he left obsessed with power."
