Forrest groaned as he opened his eyes. He knew that he had a dreadful schedule this morning. Right after breakfast, he had patrol duty with Kiragi, who was Takumi and Oboro's son.
Sure, he liked Azura, who was his mother, but that was different. Azura was born in Nohr, and was abducted when she was young.
Keeping it simple, Forrest didn't trust the Hoshidans.
He begrudgingly got out of bed, and got himself ready. All the while, he was thinking that maybe it was about time that he made a new pair of clothes. The one that he was currently wearing was cute, but Forrest liked to 'update' his wardrobe every now and then.
Once he was done getting ready, he quickly made his way to the mess hall; he only had ten minutes before he had to go on patrol.Forrest quickly ran over to the Dawn Amory, carrying his newest spell book. "S-sorry I'm...late..." he said, nearly out of breath.
"It's fine," the young Hoshidan prince said with a sigh. "I was actually a bit late myself. Mom had to finish getting some measurements, as it's about time I get some new clothes."
"I see," Forrest said, trying not to sound awkward. He always felt odd around Hoshidans, especially the royalty, and Kiragi was no exception.
"So, I assume you've done patrol before?" Kiragi asked.
"Hm? Oh, yes. I've done it plenty of times before, but...it's the first time I've done it without mother or father," Forrest said with a slight sigh.
Kiragi slightly laughed. "Well, my mom was worried about me going on patrol with you as well, if it makes you feel any better. I mean, I'm not sure if you know this, but she just hates Nohrians. Yet again, dad was there to reassure her that I was going to be fine."
"I wish my parents were concerned like yours," Forrest mumbled. "All father said to me was 'Be careful out there. I don't want to hear that you got into any trouble.'"
Kiragi shook his head. "What do you mean? Of course they care for you! Why else do you think your dad would tell you to be careful?"
"...because I'm the prince of the Vallite throne, that's why," Forrest responded in a low tone.
"Oh, that's right. Since Aunt Corrin was killed before she got married, Aunt Azura and Leo are now king and queen of Valla. ...which makes you the heir to the throne. But...what about Shigure?"
"...he's made it clear that he doesn't want anything to do with the throne."
"Oh, um, anyways, let's get going, the patrol can't do itself," Kiragi said, trying to change the topic.
"Yeah, I guess you're right," Forrest responded with a sigh.About an hour later, the two had stopped by a lake to take a lunch break. Forrest pulled out the basket of food, while Kiragi set a blanket down for them to eat on.
"You know, this actually hasn't been so bad," Forrest said with a smile on his face.
"See? I told you there was nothing to worry about," Kiragi said as he took his sandwich from Forrest.Just as Forrest was about to sit down, he saw Kiragi's eyes widen as he reached back for his bow. "Forrest! Watch out!"
However, by that point, it was too late.
A pair of muscular hands roughly grabbed Forrest, yanking him away from Kiragi. "H-hey!! Put me down!" Forrest exclaimed.
"Not gonna happen, little lady," the man said.
"I AM NOT A GIRL!" Forrest screamed as he tried to kick his abductor in the crotch.
His blow swiftly connected, causing to man to drop Forrest.
Kiragi tossed Thunder at Forrest, who caught the spell book. Kiragi then fired an arrow at the man, and Forrest fired Thunder at just the right time, so it connected with the arrow, and hit the man, knocking him out.
Forrest quickly fell to his knees, out of breath. "Phew...that was...close...thanks for saving me."
"Not a problem, Forrest," Kiragi said with a smile.
