(A/N: Yo! This is a random thing I did. There's an OC involved that I haven't revealed completely yet, but I hope to have a drawing of her up at some point.)

Seacrest was making her way home from a hunting trip at the river, but there was a missing party. Her partner, Oasis, was killed by a bear that was only trying to protect its cubs. The two of them tried to fight it off, but Oasis ended up sacrificing himself. Luckily, his sacrifice helped Seacrest kill the bear.
But now she had something else to worry about. How was she supposed to tell her 3-year old daughter about this? Surely Diamondback would be devastated. She was never the kind to take bad news easily.
With a sigh, she shook her head. All she really should be doing at this point was focus on getting home. So with one final glance towards the river, she continued her way back to the Serpent Village.

Diamondback was in her home, which was an underground burrow, which her parents had made near the center of the village. She was getting a bit worried. Her parents had gone on a hunting trip, and they should've been back by now. Nonetheless, she continued to read one of her favorite books about Ligiant legends and lore. She continued to do this until she heard her mother enter the burrow.
"Diamondback, I'm home!" she called out.
Diamondback smiled as she closed the book and went to greet her mother. "Hey mom! How was the hunting trip?" she asked, before pausing for a moment, realizing her father wasn't there. "...where's dad?"
Seacrest stood there for a moment, which piqued Diamondback's attention. With a sigh, Seacrest began to talk. "Diamondback...your father...he...Diamondback, your father is gone. While we were hunting, a bear attacked us, protecting her cubs. He sacrificed himself...Diamondback...I'm so sorry..."
Diamondback let that sink in for a moment. She then started to cry, realizing she'd never see her father again.

With a sigh, Seacrest wrapped her left, undamaged wing around Diamondback, trying to comfort her. "Shh...it'll be okay...we'll get through this together."
She sniffed. "Y-you dure mom...? I...dad w-was the one who w-was teaching me t-to use my powers..."
Seacrest gently nuzzled her daughter. "We'll find someone. I promise, alright?"
Diamondback weakly nodded. "A-Alright."
With a smile, Diamondback continued to console her child.

Temp looked at Diamondback. "...that was two years ago, huh. I just...wow. And is that how you came across Oriole?"
Diamondback nodded. "Yeah. He promised to teach me, and he did. We've been friends ever since."
Temp nodded. "I see. Well, just know you're welcome here at any time. I'd be glad to offer you help if you need it."
Diamondback nodded with a smile. "Of course. I have a feeling I'll be staying here for a while. I really like it here."
