School Rule #7: Don't let your study got distracted by the unworthy crush.
Chapter 7: The Real Deal Has Began
It has been one week since school started and Renata has been nowhere near his sight. They didn't share any class together since Renata is one year younger than him and their lockers are on the other end of the school. He's been seeing a lot of Brenda lately though. For some reason his locker was moved near hers. He was a bit worried about her at first, but the two twins seemed to take care of her just fine.
Of course, there was many moments when Brenda looked like she was soaked wet and she was absent in some classes, according to her teachers, but when Nathaniel asked what happened, Brenda ensured she can handle it.
"Morning, Brenda." Nathaniel threw his genuine smile at her as soon as he reached his locker.
"Nathaniel. Ah.. Mor.. Morning!" Her pale face turned pink. Many girls got nervous and blushed around him, but Brenda was the most obvious and it caused him to giggle sometimes.
"How are you? Are you alright?"
"Yeah. Im okay." She put her head down, seemingly scared to make eye contact with him.
Nathaniel opened his locker and looked for his gym attire. "Has Ruben scared you again?"
Brenda hurriedly shook her head. "I haven't seen him."
"Have you seen Renata?" Nathaniel asked. He knows this is off-topic, but he really really wanted to see the brunette girl.
"Ah. Yeah. We shared english and psychology class together."
"That's good. She can protect you then." He tried to sound assuring. "What about the Greyson twins?"
"They are in grade 10..." Brenda answered. She still looked scared at him.
"What's your next class then?" He gave her another Nathaniel's front cover smile as he closed his locker.
"Gym...."
"Well, me too. Let's go there together."
Nathaniel was able to make Brenda talked more as they both reached the Gym. Brenda really did remind him of his little sister. When she laughed, her eye sides twitched, behind those nerdy look he knew she was actually kind of cute.
"I have a little sister who really looks like you." He blurted when they reached the gym.
"Is she studying here? How old is she?"
"She's about 10 years younger than me." He laughed, but his laughed gradually turned into a sad expression. "She easily got sick. I used to hug her when she felt cold."
An empty silent surrounded them. "Anyway, have fun in the gym." He said, tapping Brenda's shoulder and walked in the direction of Boys' changing room.
He took a quick glance to the side where some girls were playing Volleyball. Renata's body caught his eyes.
She was wearing the school red tight gym short, a white tank-top, a knee-length shocks and a white sport shoes. Her brunette wavy hair was tied into a ponytail and a red hair ban put her front hair in place. There is a slight red complexion on her tanned cheeks, emphasizing her exotic look. She was jumping onto the air, exactly where the ball landed onto her open palm and with a swift movement, she gave the ball her unique smash, scoring a point to her team.
He realized some of his friends were also drooling over the girls, or maybe over Renata. He hurriedly went to the changing room before his hormones started raging.
"You're such a lucky dude!" Jerry Thompson, his basketball teammate pat his shoulder. "Renata is hot." His statements were followed by the other guys' whistles and laughters.
"Where's the engagement ring?" Another guy shouted.
"Cut it, guys. I haven't even proposed her yet." Nathaniel laughed. Well, he lied. He did confessed to her, which he obviously got rejected.
"But there's the ring in mind?" Jerry added, still laughing. Ring. Nathaniel repeated in his head. Maybe a ring, a pearl, or ruby would caught her attention? He would definitely considered it.
"Move over!" Someone suddenly pushed Nathaniel aside. Ruben's mean voice.
Ruben placed his Reebook sling bag onto the chair, and everyone who was goofing around initially turned quiet. Why did he always seem to be in a bad mood?
"You alright?" Nathaniel asked him calmly when everyone moved away, making sure nobody is listening. He made it clear to me nobody should know that we are in anyway related or talk to each other.
"We are not suppose to talk outside, Robinson. Rule number 1." Ruben gave Nathaniel a nasty glance.
"I was just wondering how you are." Nathaniel stated. "I am done threatening over your mum. She doesn't deserve the heartbreak."
"Get over it, Nate. My mum is mine. Not yours. Don't try to play angel when you can't even take care of your own mother and sick little sister."
That really had gone beyond what Nathaniel intended. Nobody is allowed to talk about him regarding his family like that. Nobody should blame him for what had happened. Nobody.
As if losing control, Nathaniel punched Ruben on the face. A pint of blood fell from his nose. Everyone kept quiet. What did he just do? He just ruined his last year of being the student body president.
Ruben chuckled. "The perfect guy lost his temper. I thought it was just me." That was it! Nathaniel was about to punch Ruben one more time when Jerry stopped him.
"Nate. Leave." Jerry said, looking around the room where everybody was staring at them. "I'll take care of this."
Nathaniel left the room with all his annoyance. He took out his phone and dial his mother's house phone. He was wondering if he could stay over her house with his sister this weekend.
