20 - The Fated Day Came

It was a week or so after the day I last saw Jason. I was entrapped in this kingdom on where the wretched king rules. I have been obeying him so far until today came. I was taken out of the bedroom King Dominic gave me and the guards in front of my door were given orders.

"Change your dress into this," one of the guards threw me a tactical-like dress; a golden brown fitted t-shirt with matching necktie. I hated it because it showed my stomach and chest scars. It came along with some leather shorts and knee-high boots. Of course, I wore some cute designed stockings. If there's one thing I need to compliment about this kingdom, it's about their fashion sense.

I walked out confidently, just to be welcomed by the man I hated the most.

"Oh my, Alice! I knew it, it would fit you perfectly!" He held my shoulders, one arm away from me, as he looked at me up and down. I immediately noticed the woman beside him, eyes also judging me. She looked satisfied, but her eyes tell me that something's wrong.

"Dominic, a long vest would fit her perfectly." So that's what's wrong. I mentally facepalmed.

Glancing back at the king, he nodded gleefully. "As expected of Dana! Quick! Sew her the best vest you can ever think of!" He ordered the maids as they hurry along, running away from us.

"Why did you take me out of the cage?" I asked him straightly, obviously not knowing anything. No one told me today's event. He looks at me in awe in one second, then laughed on the other.

"It's the Maze Game day!" He shouts gleefully, leading me to a weapon place he's been talking about. After that one sentence, I never listened to him. All I heard was,

"No rules."

"Kill every piece."

"Every Ace."

Wasn't I the 'Alice' of the Hearts Kingdom? Why am I fighting alongside our enemy? How is that even possible?

"Simply because you 'surrendered'," the woman Dominic called 'Dana' answered me by reading my thoughts.

"You heard me, huh?" I sighed funnily.

She shrugged in disapproval. "You were whispering. Coincidentally, I heard you."

"Surrender?" I went back to the previous topic, wanting to avoid embarrassment.

She took a breath. "When you fought our trump card, you simply 'surrendered' in the King's hands in exchange for the prisoner's life. Am I right?" I simply nodded.

"Look at your chest. Exactly where he pinned your arrow," she pointed the place to me as I took a look. I won't forgive him if he did something to me while I was asleep. That perverted geezer.

My eyes went wide to see a golden diamond near my heart. As I touch it, I feel pain. Actually, feeling just 'pain' is an understatement.

"That's somewhat like a 'seal' in your world. You are a slave of him," she clarifies. Slave? By that man?!

I grabbed her hand quietly, knowing that the spoken king is just in front of us. "Aren't you a Queen? Help me!" She giggled, like she doesn't take me seriously.

"I'm not, dear. I'm just a well-known knight of his," Dana smiles at me, pointing at her beautiful made sword. It reminded me so much of one of those console games I was playing at home.

"Here we are!" The king opened a huge door, making us welcome a million of weapons. "Pick any of your choice, Alice."

Stunned, but I didn't keep my guard down. I quickly searched for a bow and arrow with bombs and some daggers. As weak as the Angela I am right now, I chose the lightest. Is this even alright?

Suddenly an idea popped to my mind.

"I would like to test these weapons," I utter, smiling at the king. Like an idiot, he smiled back at me.

"Oh yes! You could--" I aimed an arrow at him and quickly released. It was easy handling it, but it gave me a more precise eyesight. He backed down and looked completely startled.

"This is perfect."

"Alice--", I cut Dana off and walked towards the exit.

"Let's get things finished."

"Alice!" The king quickly caught up and reached for my arm. I swatted it away faster than before, fired up and stronger.

"Don't you dare touch me," I glare at him and walked towards the sunlight. It was a sunny yet bloody welcome.

~Dana's POV~

Alice walks in front of us, completely unaware on how the game goes. She even forgot to ask who will fight for the Kingdom of Hearts. That kingdom will never miss a game like this, never.

But, though this girl in front of me is careless, for that one second.

That glare.

It contained the feelings that I saw with the previous fighter for the Hearts Kingdom. Willpower. Confidence that she'll get out in one piece, get what's rightfully hers. Unstoppable.

For a moment even, I thought her eyes glowed red.
