Brooklyn’s POV

Fans? I wasn’t expecting to see fans. I guess I have tried not to ask about Luke’s music, but I didn’t know they had so many fans. When he introduces me as his girlfriend, my heart flutters and I almost forget how anxious I am. Until one girl says, “wow. Is he really with her? I don’t see why, she’s not even pretty!” My stomach ties in knots. I feel Luke’s hand slide into mine and give it a reassuring squeeze.

“Sorry guys, we have to go.” He gives them a wave before tugging me with him. “Brooks, are you ok?”

“Um yea!” I fake a smile.

“No, you’re not. I’m really sorry about that.”

“It’s not your fault. I didn’t know you had fans, and were recognizable in public.”

“Yea, I guess we are. Let’s go home, yea?” I nod and we continue to search for the guys. We find them in a store playing with Nerf guns.

“Mate! Is that what I think it is on your arm?!” Calum points to the bandage on Luke’s arm.

“Yea. It’s a tattoo.” He says proudly.

“What of?” Michael asks. Out of the boys, Michael has the most tattoos; two on his hand, and one on his arm. Calum has one on his chest, while Ashton has none. I think I heard him say he’s scared of needles.

“You’ll see when it heals!” We all pile back into Ashton’s car and drive home. About halfway there my eyelids droop and I rest my head on Luke’s shoulder and drift to sleep.

“Babe, wake up. We’re back.” Luke’s voice is quiet in my ear, gently shaking me. I reluctantly wake up and get out of the car. “See you later, yea?” I nod and gave him a peck on the lips.

Three weeks have gone by. We haven’t talked about the fans anymore, though it’s still in the back of my mind. I have therapy today, and a date with Luke later. Most of my worry is the fact that I leave in a week and two days.

“How are things going?” Dr. Allen asks.

            “They are great actually.”

“Haven’t had any moments? Nothing that set you off?”

            “Not in a while.”

“Good. Ok we are going to try something today.” She walks to he desk and returns with a stereo. My pulse quickens. “Only if you feel comfortable.”

“No, I want to try.” I want to at some point to be able to hear Luke and the guys play. Dr. Allen nods and turns on the stereo. A song comes on that I recognize as Hello, Goodbye by The Beatles. It was one of Gunnar’s favorites. I take a deep breath and close my eyes, trying not to panic. It’s what Gunnar would want. Be happy, move forward. I tell myself over and over. Before I know it the song is over, and silence fills the room. I open my eyes and smile.

            “How do you feel?”

“Good. A little sad, but glad that I made it through.”

“That was good. Ok, so I’ll see you one more time before you fly back?” She questions.

“Yep. That’s the plan.” I meet my mom in the lobby, and we drive back to the beach house. At home I sit next to Mae on the couch.

“I looked them up.” She says suddenly.

            “Huh?”

“5 Seconds of Summer. Luke’s band. I looked them up.” She explains.

            “Oh,” is all I say.

“They are really good. You should listen to them. It might help.” She shrugs her shoulders. I pull my baby sister into a hug and sit with her until Luke arrives.

“Play a song for me?” I ask as we are sitting in his beach house watching a movie.

“Are you sure? I don’t want to make you upset-“

“Yes. Please?” He nods and walks downstairs, returning with an acoustic guitar. Luke sits in front of me and starts to strum softly. “I’d give up forever to touch you, cause I know that you feel me somehow. You’re the closest to heaven that I’ll ever be and I don’t want to go home right now.” His voice floats through my eardrums and gives my entire body chills.

“Was it ok? Are you upset?” Luke asks a while after he finishes the song and I stay silent.

            “It was amazing.”

Luke’s POV

When she asks me to sing I’m shocked, and nervous. How am I supposed to just sing a song for the girl I love who hasn’t heard music since her brother died? I decide that Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls is the perfect choice in song. When I finish, her silence scares me.

“It was amazing.” She breathes. A weight is lifted off my chest. Before I know it Brooklyn is in my lap, hugging me. She pulls back and attches her lips to mine. Desire burns in the pit of my stomach. I need more of her. More of my drug. I tangle my hands in her hair and bring her closer. I instinctively stand, still holding onto Brooklyn.

“Jump,” I mumble against her lips. Grabbing the back of her thighs I hoist her legs around my waist and walk upstairs to my room, closing the door. I lay her back on the bed and strip my shirt off. Hovering over her I place kisses down her jaw, sucking on her neck breaking only to pull her shirt over her head. I take in her bare torso letting my thumb trace over the new black ink on her ribs. I love that she got it for me. It’s incredibly sexy. “You sure this is ok?” She only kisses me harder, giving me the answer. I slide a finger into the waistband of her underwear and pull it down. Sliding into her she moans my name. I rock my hips back and fourth, going faster at her request. We reach our highs at the same time, and roll onto my side. Brooklyn lays her head on my chest and uses her pointer finger to trace the Statue of Liberty on my arm. Like a lot of our time, not much needs to be said. We lay in silence. I feel her body get heavy and her breathing even out. “I love you,” I whisper and kiss her forehead.

“Luukeee!” yelling wakes me up. Oh shit. I think a second before Calum bursts into the room. “Ashton’s bein-oh!” He stops and stares at me and Brooklyn, who was still asleep under my arms.

“Dude!” I scold him and he shrugs and leaves. Brooklyn shifts and opens her eyes. “Hi,” I peck her nose.

“Morning.” She smiles. “Food! I’m hungry!” She blurts out. We get dressed and make our way downstairs, trying to ignore the snickering from Ashton and Calum. I assume Michael is still asleep.

“Party tonight, mate?” Ashton asks between bites of vegemite on toast.

            “Yea sure. Brooks, you in?”

“Um I’ve never really been to a party,” she looks nervous.

“Don’t worry. It’s here. So the four of us will be here!” Calum assures her.

            “Fine. I’ll come, I guess.”
