Luke’s POV

I didn’t understand why she couldn’t tell me whatever it was. I have so many questions to ask her, but I don’t want to set her off. I went straight passed the guys in the living room and up to my room. I paced, trying to think of any possibility. Calum comes in wanting to know what happened. “She’s so broken and I don’t even know why. I just want to help her!” I explain, running a hand through my hair.

“You like her a lot right?”

“I- I think I love her.” Calum nods knowingly.

“Well then, just keep being there for her. She’ll come around. We all see the way she looks at you, mate.” I silently nod at my best friend. Hours later I find myself walking down the beach like so many nights before. I sit and wait, hoping she’ll be there. I am answered when I feel her body sit in the sand next to me. I look into her eyes, hoping to find something out. She lifts her eyes to the sky for a second before placing them back on me.

“I love you. And I’m ready to tell you whatever you want to know.” She says all in one breath. I am trying to figure out where to start, but my mind keeps playing her first three words over. “I love you, too.” The smile that lights up her face will forever be engrained in my mind.

“So why do you hate music?” I ask the question that nags me. “Well I had an older brother. Nine months ago he-he,” she struggles to find the words. But I can infer what she is about to say. “He decided he didn’t want to be here anymore.” I got a sick feeling in my stomach. I didn’t want her to feel like she had to keep talking about something that painful.

           “Brooks you don-“

“He wanted more than anything to be a musician. He would sit in his room for hours writing and playing his guitar. Once he had finally finished whatever song he was writing he would sit me down and play it for me. Those were my favorite moments.” I gently take her hand and pull her into me.

“Will you tell me about him?” I ask her quietly.

“Gunnar was my best friend. He was always kind. He had this way of calming me down. He was also a terrible dancer, but insisted on dancing around the kitchen every Christmas eve.” I smile as she continues to describe her brother, making me wish I could have met him. “Gunnar always told me, ‘some days you have to make your own sunshine.” “I like that.” “Yea, I did too.”

“Does anything else set you off?”

“Um well we should never watch The Hangover. Or watch golf.”

“Done. I hate golf anyways.” We sit in comfortable silence for a while, when I feel her become sleepy in my arms. “Wanna stay at mine?” I whisper in her ear. She nods and I help her up. We lace our fingers together and walk.

Brooklyn's POV

It felt better than I thought to let Luke in as much as I just did. It felt even better when he said I love you back. We quietly walk into the house and up to his room. Luke looks through his drawers before tossing me one of his shirts, a white one with a smiley face on it. One him it fits perfectly, but on my it hangs at mid thigh. I pull my sweater over my head replacing it with Luke’s shirt, and sliding off my leggings. His eyes are glued on me as I change, making me blush. “Uh I usually sleep in my boxers, that ok?” I give him a short nod and watch him undress. We crawl under the covers and I cuddle into his chest, feeling safe, soon overcome with sleep. “Brooks. Babe. Wake up!” Luke gently shakes my arm. I groan and roll over out of his grasp. “Nooope. Time to get up, sleepy head!” He pokes my side, tickling me. I squirm under his touch.

          “Ahh!” I laugh. “Stop!”

“I will when you get up!”

“Ok! Ok! Ok!” I plead. “I’m up!” I turn over to look at him, blue eyes shining. “Hi.”

“Hi.” Luke’s smile makes butterflies erupt in my stomach. He connects our lips in a short but sweet kiss. When he pulls back I give him a pouty face, indicating I want more. He chuckles and reconnects our lips. We kiss for a while longer, savoring the moment. “I want to do something today!” Luke announces.

         “Like what?”

“Go into town? We can like shop around, and get food and stuff.” He suggests.

       “Oo that sounds so good!”

“Should we invite the guys? Or alone time?” I think for a second before answering. We spend some time with the guys but most of it is alone. I feel bad for taking him away from his friends.

“Invite them! I miss those idiots!”

“Done. Now you can’t very well go out in just my t-shirt, as much as I would love that…”

“I’ll go home, shower and be back in like an hour?” “Perfect!” I stand up and slide my leggings back on. I am starting to take off Luke’s shirt to put mine back on but he stops me by throwing his arms around my waist. “Nope. You have to keep it. You look way better in it than I do!” I smile and turn to kiss him. “See you soon.”
