Brooklyn’s POV

“How was your very last final?” Graham buys me a drink.

“Good. Glad it’s over! I’m ready to just work my internship! Hopefully they will hire me on.”

“They will, don’t worry!” We sit and talk for a long time, it’s nice to have a night out with him. “Let me walk you home?”

“Of course!” I finish my drink and link my hand in his. We walk in silence most of the way. Our silence isn’t awkward but it’s not completely comfortable. “Still on for our date tomorrow night?”

“Definitely! I’ll pick you up at 8.” He leans down to give me a kiss. There is passion behind it, but nothing like kissing Luke. Something I’ve been trying to ignore for a while.

The smell of food wafting from the kitchen wakes me up. In only a tank top and plaid pj shorts I pad into the kitchen to find a guy standing there. “This is new, usually they just slip out quietly before Dia wakes up.” I know this is a guy Dia brought home. Reagan is too shy.

“Well I happen to really like her, so I hope you like bacon!” His accent stops me. He turns around and I’m face to face with Ashton. “Holy shit, Brooklyn?!”

“Ash?!” I am stunned, then over come with joy at finding an old friend. I take two steps and launch myself into a hug with him.

“It’s so good to see you!” He pulls back and examines me. “Wow. You got hotter.” I slap his arm. “Ow, what? Just giving you a compliment. How have you been?”

“Great. I just finished up college and now hopefully getting a job in the real world. What about you? How’s the band?”

“Amazing. We just finished touring, and now we’re here for writing another album!” Ashton is smiling so big as he takes a bite of bacon.

            “That’s awesome!”

“Thanks! Just wait until the guys see you! Luke is gonna flip!”

“No!” I yell probably too loud and too quickly. “I mean could you possibly not tell him about this?”

“What? Why not?” Ashton questions. His expression a look of hurt and confusion.

“It’s just it’s been a long time, and I know that what I did hurt both of us. I just don’t want to hurt him again. I’m also seeing someone.” The last part comes out slowly.

“Oh. Ok, if that’s what you want then I won’t say anything. But I really want to see you again before we leave in a few weeks.”

            “Deal!”

“Are you ok?” Graham asks putting his hand over mine across the table at dinner.

“Yea, I’m fine.” I snap out of it to answer. “I’m just still a little brain dead from finals. I’m ok, I swear!” I assure him. As we are finishing dessert Graham gets sentimental.

            “You remember our first date?”

“How could I forget? I had just gotton coffee and you spilled it down my favorite shirt!”

“You looked really beautiful that day. And everyday since I fall more in love with you, Brooklyn. I love you. Will you marry me?”

Luke’s POV

Ashton has been acting really weird lately. He avoids me and when he does talk to me it’s one word answers. “Dude, what’s up? You’ve been off since last week.” I confront him one night in the hotel.

“N-Nothing,” he stutters as his phone rings. “Sorry,” he takes the call into the other room. Sighing I try not to eavesdrop but it’s hard not to with Ashton’s loud voice.

“No, I think I can get him there. Just meet us inside at 9:30. Well you know that guy better than I do, but when I met him I didn’t like him at all. I think it can work. Ok, see you Dia. Bye!” I quick focus my attention back to the TV, though my mind is racing. First off, who is Dia? Who is the guys Ashton doesn’t like?

“Come to that club again with us tonight?” Ashton asks a few hours later.

            “Again? Why?”

“It’s karaoke night, and I met a girl whose coming and I want you all to meet her.” I think about it. Ash doesn’t pick up many girls, so she must be important.

“Ok. I’ll be there.” I leave him there on the couch and head to the bathroom to shower. When I step out of the steaming water I quick dry off and put on black skinny jeans, a black cut off with a red plaid shirt. After quiffing my hair I’m ready.

“Oh there she is! Dia!” Ashton calls across the club grabbing the attention of a petite girl with short blond hair. When she sees him her whole face lights up. “Dia these are my bandmates. Calum, Luke and Michael. Guys this is Dia!”

“Hi, it’s really nice to meet you guys!” We all make small talk for a while. “My two roommates will be here any minute!” Ash shoots her a glance. I’m on my third beer and am feeling a nice buzz that is making my mood melt away.

“You guys are Five Seconds of Summer!” A tall brunette points at us. “You guys are great, you have to sing a song!”

“We aren’t really feeling it today, but maybe Luke will.” Michael volunteers me.

“Really? That would be amazing!” Well shit, I can’t say no now.

“Uh yea sure.” I stand and make my way to the empty stage. My hands shake. I’m usually confident on stage but that’s with the guys. Someone off stage offers me an acoustic guitar. By the second this is feeling more and more like a set up. I sit on the stool behind the mic. I start strumming the first chords of Wherever You Are. That’s when she walks in. That’s when our eyes meet.
