Chapter 6: The Kingdom of Swift.
"And another building repaired by Kade Hallow!" I said excitedly, cleaning the last window. I took a step back and smiled. I placed a card in the door and walked away, hands in my pockets, a smile upon my face. I looked around at the town and saw all the buildings that the building academy and the King had redone. The Kingdom was quite beautiful actually, I quite enjoyed our town.
It was later in the day, around three o'clock and most of the shops were preparing to close up. I saw a new shop in the square and decided to check it out. It was a potion shop, filled with potions and sciencey stuff. I walked inside and a man, with blonde hair and a white shirt was standing at the counter. He had goggles like my own on top of his head and he was leafing through a book on his desk. He appeared to be mumbling to himself. I walked closer and the book was purple on the cover and was handwritten, the handwriting was way better than mine.
"Hello?" I asked, trying to get the attention of the man.
"God dam Enderborn, where are you hiding?" The man mumbled. "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't see you there. Name's Duncan, Duncan Coffee."
"Kade Hallow, nice to meet you Mr. Coffee. Are you new to the Kingdom of Swift?" I asked politely, shaking the hand he held out.
"Yes I am Kade. Thought it might be a nice change, I've been living in the Kingdom of Stars for most of my life." Duncan replied.
"I have heard many nice things about that Kingdom, I hope you enjoy your time here." I said, Duncan was very suspicious, I didn't entirely trust him.
"Thank you Kade, I will be seeing you soon I hope?"
"Of course Mr. Coffee. I must be taking my leave now." I replied. I left the shop, not wanting to hear any more of this Duncan's banter. Ugh, this man was crazy, I mean come on, Enderborn? What the heck is an Enderborn? I shrugged the thought off and walked down the almost empty streets. The Kingdom of Swift was almost as distant as the Kingdom of Stars, so little to no travelers stopped by here, which was kind of nice in a way. I made it back to my house and walked inside, my mother was cooking something in the kitchen and my father was still out on his guard duties.
"Oh! Kade! Your home!" My mother said excitedly.
"Yeah, I am, is there something you want to tell me? You seam excited."
"Actually, the King has requested your presence at the castle tomorrow!" She said happily. My eyes widened in shock.
"That. Is. Amazing!" I yelled. "Did he say why?!"
"Something about building I think."
"Oh my god, this is actually happening." I said, almost speechless. "On a calmer note, did you know there is a new store in town?"
"Yeah, what is it anyways?"
"Some potion shop run by an Mr.Coffee. He's a strange dude."
"Kade. That's not polite." My mother scowled.
"I'm sorry it's true." I answered, she continued to cook and I went to my room. I stayed in my room, long after my father came home. He had brought me dinner, and could tell I was upset with my mother. He told me congratulations and went back downstairs to calm my mother down. I looked out my window and saw the castle lights shining in the distance. I thought about tomorrow and how I could be standing, right in there talking to the King.
His laughter filling the halls, his smile cheering up all those around him. The King was a wonderful man, no wonder all the girls in this Kingdom were fond of him. But I knew I could never be as great as a builder as him. The girls wouldn't look at me the same way as they look at him. You could say I was jealous, but really, I just wanted to be like him. He was my idol in a sense, a true inspiration. I sighed and changed out of my clothes and into some pyjamas. I was pretty tired and didn't want to be sleepy in front of the King the next day. I crawled into bed and fell asleep, trying to dream of my encounter tomorrow. But, I didn't get what I bargained for.
