Chapter 18: Bryn-Silence.

I’m sorry I couldn’t wait for you to wake up, I just couldn’t take the look on your faces again. I know you are proud of me and all, but, I just didn’t want to see you guys sad before I left. By now I have probably left with Nicolette already and we are on our way to the Kingdom of Blades. We are going to try and meet up with someone from the Kingdom of Saplings before we reach the other Kingdom.

I just hope you understand my decision. Mom, don’t keep yourself away from others until I return, go, teach your students. Dad, make sure you do the same. Just because I am not there physically, doesn’t mean I am not there spiritually.

Turns out it was just a week before I could go into the mage division of the Kingdoms guards, shame isn’t it? I’ll be sure to join once I get back though, I know you guys would want me too. But, just take care of that girl Dad, make sure she keeps her hopes up, her parents will come back. Even if I have to bring them back myself.

Dad, Mom, I love you both, and I will stay safe.

I promise.

I looked back at the note and placed it on the table. Hopefully they will understand. I attached the dagger sheathe to my arm, grabbed my bag and went outside. Nicolette was sitting on a bench just outside, her bag sitting on the ground beside her.

“Morning Nicolette, you ready to go?” I asked. She nodded her head and stood up. I reached into my pocket and dug around for the feeling of the bottle King Nilesy had gave me. I sighed in relief as I felt the bottle in my pocket. We walked to the gates and they let us through, not really asking many questions. None at all in fact. It was quite strange actually. The path ahead was green, and full of plant life, probably a side effect to the cove. Hours into the walk I saw two girls come into view.  I swore I recognised them.

“Isn’t that Lilac and Aerith?” I asked. Nicolette stared off towards that direction. She looked back at me and shook her head yes. “They’re pretty far away, maybe we can catch up to them before the darkness falls?” Nicolette rolled her eyes and shook her head no. “Wait, you want us to travel through the night, just to catch up with them?” She nodded and this time I rolled my eyes. “You have got to be joking right?” She shook her head no and I frowned. “Whatever, if we get attacked it’s your fault.” Nicolette shrugged and we kept going. Hours later, I had a brilliant idea.  I conjured up a small snowball in my hands, Nicolette looked at me, questioning my plan.

“What? It’s completely harmless.” I said. Nicolette looked away as if to say if I didn’t see it, I didn’t encourage it, I smirked and launched the snowball towards the girls. In the distance, I made out Lilac turning around, a bit freaked out. Laughing I kept walking with Nicolette.

It started to drizzle a bit, but the two of us kept on going. The rain made my hair wet, and it eventually was plastered to my head. I groaned and took a deep breath. I made a fist with one hand and placed it on the palm of my other. Above our heads an ice barrier came up and blocked the rain. “There. That makes the trip a bit easier.” As we neared the girls, we saw them settle down for the night. But something wasn’t right.

I heard a growling.  And it didn’t sound too friendly. I looked at the girls and I saw it. My eyes widened and I rushed towards them.  I knew that Nicolette and I were not planning on letting them get hurt.

Especially when they were off guard.

A/N: Oooooh, stuff's happening! During the travel days, stuff is a bit slow, considering each character must live through the day. So basically, Lilac starts the day off and Tess ends it. So, I hope you have all enjoyed. I've been Vicerry, take care guys!
