Chapter 39: Bryn- Surprises

Chapter 39: Bryn- Surprises.

"We need to get that hair piece off of Kim. It has mind control elements in it, kind of like the ones we use to help calm new owls down." Alex whispered.

"Someone needs to sneak around.  Take it off of her." Victorie replied.

"I'm sorry, you'll get used to it. Better than your last one, that one was so ratty and old." Duncan replied to Kim.

"I can do it."  A voice, a girl's voice, came into my head.

"Uh. Did anyone just hear that?" I asked.

"Hear what?" Aerith responded.

"Me." The same voice said. This time, the others heard it. They were all confused, except for one.

"I think I heard that now." Tess replied. 

"Who the heck is that?" Ace questioned.

"Let's see now. Who is the only person not freaking out right now? Because if you can't figure that out, then I think I should have let you guys know earlier." I took a glance at the group and found the only one smirking.

"God. I knew there was something special about you." I said with a smile. "You had that certain mage's aura."

"Took you long enough." The voice, or Nicolette, replied. "I'll be heading off."  

"Cloaking spell?" Aerith asked Ace.

"Cloaking spell." He replied. They quickly casted a spell and Nicolette disappeared into the darkness.

"Are you kids done talking!?" Sjin yelled. "Kim, do the thing."

"Uh, what thing?" Kim questioned. Duncan took something out of his pocket and pressed something. "Oh! Right. That thing."  Kim closed her eyes, and seemed to concentrate. When she opened them again, they were both glowing purple.

"Guys, this Kim chick looks like trouble. Those purple things on her arms, they're glowing." Nicolette's voice said.

Crap. This is getting freaky.  

Kim mumbled something, as she raised her arms up, almost in a prayer type stance. She finished seconds later, and her arms dropped to her sides. Duncan smirked, and stepped to the side. Paul and Chris did the same.

That's when the floor began shake.

BOOM, dust particles from the celling fell down.

BOOM, Kim's feet left the ground.

BOOM, my vision was blurred.

Everything turned to black.  

I blinked a couple of times, wondering if my vision had turned black or I was looking at a dark room, turns out it was the latter.

"Tenebrarum, et vade!" Ace and Aerith yelled. The darkness cleared, and I saw Kim, standing on top of what looked to be a giant, shadowy blob. That was the only way I could describe it. It was huge. The only facial features it had were two glowing blue eyes.  

"Well, well, well! You have certainly out done yourself Kim! You've been practicing haven't you?" Duncan's voice called out. "Who is this fantastic creature?"

"Umbra!" Kim said proudly. "This is Umbra, and now, he will be the destroyer of the chosen ones."

Umbra. I've heard that name before. When did I- Oh. That's when.

When Bryn was younger, a monster attacked the Kingdom of Waves.

No one knows how it got there, or why it was there.

The only thing to defeat this monster was a spell.

One that only Ice users, and Water users, can accomplish.

Bryn's parents used this spell.

On this monster.

Bryn remembered the spell clearly, all he had to do was recite it.

It was long. But all he had to say was this,

Tractus glaciel. Exi et necessarii vis dimittere vincere succurre monstrum. Sed hoc potest, ut inter paucos, te invoco, GLACIE ARDIOS REGNA!

(Which roughly translated to)

Crystals of Ice. Come forth and aid me to unleash the power needed to defeat this monster. As one of the select few able to use this power, I call upon thee, ARDIOS OF THE ICE KINGDOM!

But Bryn didn't know the price.

He never knew what happened to his parents, and why they were missing for a day.

 A/N: Yeah, uh, Bryn may or may not be in trouble with this one. Anyways, surprises all around this chapter! Nicolette has telepthy, Kim summons a giant gooey monster type thing, and Bryn remember an old spell!
