I notice more than I should
I notice the way people smile
Although I haven't seen that in awhile
See people are stuck in pain and denial
Knowing that life is heavy and wild
I notice more than I should
I notice the way people talk
Voice as rough as a rock
Or as distinctive as a lock
Some are quiet and soft
Others without a thought
I notice more than I should
I notice the way people stride
Bumpy like a carnival ride
Or head hung low, trying to hide
But I can see that pain inside
Trust me, I've been planning my own suicide
I notice more than I should
I notice the way people eat
Proper and neat
Or spilled at their feet
Some eat like they haven't had anything for weeks
Others stare hungrily, but stay in their seats
I notice more than I should
I notice the way people laugh
The way their eyes crinkle and crack
Or when they throw their head back
Careful, don't make your neck snap
You almost gave me a heart attack
I notice more than I should
