The Missing Pieces(A Naruto Reader Insert)

New Discovery

As it was agreed, you met with Shikamaru. For once he wasn't complaining about having to get up so early in the morning.

"Before we do anything, I'm going to fetch something to eat." He said nothing only placed his hands behind his head and began to walk. Just like the rest, he's grown, matured.

Ramen, again. You'll find something else later, for now it'll do besides it's delicious. On the way there Shikamaru didn't speak he just watched the clouds.

To say the least, Shikamaru was surprised as well. "You have quite the appetite." He commented as he finished his own.

With a grin you finished your last bowl of ramen. "I know." And to be honest, you hate it. Whenever you spend days without eating food, once you do, you eat a lot. You both paid for it and began to walk around the village to get familiar with it.

"So, what happened?" Finally he asked. It appears that everyone wanted to know about it.

"I went through several princesses on order to completely heal. You see," you paused to look around, "when I arrived Kabuto concluded that my body was breaking down. Since I used the revival technique too often, my body did not get used to it. So in a sense it began to attack itself. Because of that, my chakra turned toxic, poisonous to everyone including me." You stopped to show him what you meant. Your lifted hand was covered in that purple colored chakra.

"Then, what did he do to help you?" He seemed concerned as he watched how you placed your hand back to its place.

Continuing to walk once more, you smiled. "You see, we couldn't reverse the problem so instead, we had to use the damage so that my body could use it to heal it. You know, like, it absorbed the damage to get stronger. Which is why now," you flexed your fingers, "I can regenerate body parts."His eyes widened in shock. "As much as I hate it, it's there."

"I see. It's good to have you back, we were worried that he wouldn't let you go." He admitted.

"Actually, he no longer has no interest in me. Which is why I wanted to take my parents with me to the Sand Village." But you didn't need to add the rest, he already knew it.

"But isn't a bit suspicious? Why would he help you?" The worried increased as he furrowed his eyebrows.

You shrugged your shoulders. "I don't know, maybe it's hard for you to believe it but he helped me. It's rather strange that he always made sure that I didn't put to much strain on my body. He made sure to take care of me, so much different than years ago."

Of course he didn't like it, and as the genius he is, he came to a conclusion. "You don't think he.." He shook his head. "No, it's not possible."

"What is not possible?" You asked not turning to face him.

His eyes narrowed, looking at you as if that would give him answers. "Tell me, did he ever mentioned anything?"

Like what? You searched you mind as to anything that could be of use but nothing. There's just the last thing he said when you left. "Actually, when I left he told me that he would be watching me instead I suffered anything similar."

Now that's what he had feared. "I see, if that's the case you should stay away from him."

"Why?"

"Don't you see it?" He sighed. "It appears that he..Took a liking to you."

Your mouth hung open and you laughed. "Ah, no. Listen, I don't that that kind of man would ever feel anything but other than for himself."

How could a man like him like someone? Kabuto has his reasons for helping you but you doubt it's because of what Shikamaru said. No freaking way. "I'm serious, why would he help you when he obtained nothing in exchange."

"I wish I knew, but we're not going to obtain anything by making any theories about it. Whatever it is, we'll find our sooner or later." Walking calmly you told him, but from the way he was looking at you, you could tell he didn't liked the way you took thing. You were acting so calmed about it.

"Don't isn't bother you?" Usually he acts all calmed but not he seemed very frustrated.

"No, no it doesn't. I eat nothing by thinking of such things. Why don't we just forget about that topic?" Your suggestion made him look even more nervous. But at the end he sighed looking away.

"[Name]?" You rose an eyebrow upon hearing Naruto's voice. Surprisingly enough he was traveling with his team, they just probably returned from their mission.

A smile adorned your face as you looked at all of them. You shouldn't be surprised every time you see someone. Time passes by so it's reasonable that they mature. "Hey, returned from a mission?"

That famous grin of his greeted you, his eyes twinkled as they watched you as if not believing that you were standing right there in front of him. "Yeah, when did you get back?"

The pink haired female stepped forward and embraced you, squishing the life out of you. "I... Yesterday." You managed to breathe as she continued to squid the breathe out of you.

"Sakura, I believe you're squishing her too hard." The pale male warned the woman who at the end pulled away.

Sai, that's his name. Last time you saw him smile was years ago and that smile didn't have any hint of sincerely. Now though, now that smile looked real like he really meant it.

"How did you-" Once again Naruto began to question now coming closer to take a good look at you.

Rolling your eyes, you shook your head. Do you have to repeat Everytime someone asks that? "On my own."

They narrowed their eyes probably not believing it, no, it looked so easy to be true. "But-"

You waved your hand in a dismissing the subject. "I'm tired of repeating myself, I'm sure Kakashi will answer those questions."

"Speaking of which, we need to report in." The leader if the squad mentioned making Naruto whine.

"We'll look for you then. Don't go anywhere!" As Naruto ran away, he warned you.

It's...It feels nice to see them. Why had you been so blinded tears ago? Smiling fondly, you kept watching around. You grew up so fast and so many things happened that prevented you of enjoying the good things of life.

"Anyway, you're going to show me around, right?" Turning back to Shikamaru, you asked with a grin.

"Yeah, yeah. Let's go." He motioned sharing a grin of his own.

And so, another day went by. Really, it's really nice to be around them but you'll have to leave this place in a few days. Taking a long deep breath, you followed Shikamaru who lazily pointed to what he was describing. Good seemed too good to be true, for a moment that smile of yours disappeared remembering that just when you feel that life will be good, that's when something strikes.
