Why would he hide something like this? And for so long?
How did he manage to hide this?
My thoughts were cut when my wife walked into with Nate and Morgan's sleeping daughter. "What's going on?" She asked, setting the sleeping baby in her bed, before grabbing Nate's phone off his night stand, calling Morgan's phone with it to set up the make shift monitor.
"Uh.. Nate fell asleep, I'm guessing?" I ask.
"Well, he was sorta sleeping. But fell into a deep sleep like 40 minutes ago, I just kept Briar with him, to make sure she was in a deep sleep." My wife explained. "I should probably wake her parents up."
No, Morgan will wake up Nate, and then he might actually kill me for going through his stuff.
"What are you even doing?" My wife asked.
"Uh, I'm getting something for Nate." I say.
She looked at me for a moment, blinking. "... B-But, he's asleep.."
"Maybe he forgot."
"Well, want me to get him?" She asked.
"No, no, no! I'll tell him tomorrow." I tell her, folding the paper, watching her bundle the small infant in a blanket she made.
... I really wonder how he'll react when he finds out I know.
What will he do?
--
Phoebe dragged Morgan out of the house in the morning, anf honestly, I'm glad she did. Nate was alone with the baby again.
I was in the hallway, making my way to the kitchen where Nate was, when the landline in the house went off, answering quickly, I lean against the wall.
"Hello?"
"Is this Nathan?" I hear them ask.
"No, I'm his friend, Brett."
"Is he home? Or avalable? This is urgent." The man asked.
"Uhm, he's working." I lied, knowing he scheduled this to be his day off.
"Well, when you have a chance, can you have him call me back?"
"Yeah, who is this?"
"His doctor."
Oh shit..
"I'll give him the message." I say quietly.
"Right, thank you."
And so I hung up, walking to the kitchen.
As predicted, Nate was there, at the table, writing on a piece of paper. His messy hair in his face, but he didn't care.
The baby's crib was next to him, with the sleeping baby in it, oddly quiet, because of the fact of Nate moving her bed back an forth with his foot.
"Hey Nate?" I ask, he didn't look up. "Can we talk?"
"Sure." He mumbled, looking over to his daughter then to me. After looking at me, he looked at his paper.
"So, your Doctor called." I say, making him looke up, but not at me. "He says it's urgent."
"Maybe about the baby?" Nate sounded unsure of himself.
"I don't think so, Nate. I found that paper you had last night."
He looked away for a moment, not saying anything.
"An I had a feeling you were hiding something from us, and I want to help him." I explain.
