MORGAN
"Do you ever just wake up, and feel like you do the same thing over and over again.. Like nothing ever changes?" Nate asked me queitly as he set down his drink.
Looking up from the baby, I give him an odd look. "What exactly are you saying, Nate?" I ask.
"I don't really know.." He sighed before looking to the baby.
"Nate.." I start silently. "Is there something bothering you? You've been troubled since Hunter --" I trailed off as he looked at me.
He was silent for a moment then looked down.
"Nate, I didn't--"
"Every time I think about it, I feel as if I'm the reason Hunter died. He came down here cause of our split. Hunter tried to keep me happy, though I couldn't look past everything I did wrong." He said silently. "I dragged people down and ran away from my problems.. I thought everything was fine, until that accident happened.."
He looked at the window. "I wont forget what the doctors told me. "Hunter Hughes never woke up. His heart stopped beating before we could ever get him to the ER."
"What happened is not you're fault. You never asked for this split, and after a while I didn't want it either."
He looked at me.
"None of this was you're fault."
It's true. He wouldn't be like this if I had listened to him. I knew he loved me, yet I doubted him... and I shouldn't have done it.
He sighed, then closed his eyes. "Sometimes, I just wish I was dead."
"Nate, don't --"
"Nate? Morgan?" I hear Phoebe call stopping me, making Nate look up.
What's up Phoebe?" Nate asked silently.
"Have you seen the cat?" She asked slightly panicked.
Nate looked over then sighed. "Which cat? There's three of them?" He made his point.
"Leo?"
"No, not since this morning." I answer her.
"He was on our bed when I woke up." Nate added.
"Well. He's not there now.." Phoebe freaked. "Brett hasn't seen him, he's no where in the house. Do you think he wandered out?" She asked.
"How could he have gotten out?" Nate asked.
"You guys always leave the back door open cause of the breeze. Maybe he went out there and decided to wander down some stairs." Phoebe told us.
Nate stood up, helping me up. "We can go look for him." He said. "He can't be that far."
"He might be in the nearby forest." I say.
"Can we look around?" She asked.
"Of course." Nate answered her.
"Am I taking Briar?" I ask.
"We can't leave her with Brett." Nate stated.
"He won't know what to do." Phoebe added.
"What about Brett?" I ask. "Is he coming with us?"
Nate looked at me before looking to the panicked Phoebe. "Just tell Brett we'll be back later."
