Rianne's pov:

I don't have much to say except for the fact that I am scared to go to the court today. I would tell the court about the party, but I mean how could I prove to them that my story was true. What if Grant was a good liar? I shivered. After all, I was in big trouble with my mom anyways. She found out the whole Jason story wasn't true and gave me the whole "just tell the truth and you wont get in trouble" lecture. Cameron was feeling so guilty 24/7. He was so silent and I felt like he would only talk to Bali or me. Everyone was silent actually, but Cameron was the worst.

So I got ready to go to court.

Taylor's pov:

I went to be last night at 7:30 and woke up at 10:30 getting plenty of hours of sleep. I woke up still feeling worn out. An officer came into my room.

"Your mother has come to visit you." He said grabbing my arm. He dragged me out to a room. I couldn't hug my mother, but just look at her through a glass window and talk into this little microphone thing. She was crying.

"Mom," was all I said.

"Taylor, promise me you did not do this."

"I promise mom. It was all self defense."

"He's hurt pretty bad, but I believe you. Hopefully the court will too." She said. My mother really believed me and a bit of hope raised in my spirits. She put her hand up to the glass and I put mine up too. I didn't know what else to say.

"I will always support you and do what I have to do for this to be right." She said.

"Thank you mom."

She put her hand back down and then reached into a big plastic bag. I didn't know what it was at first, but then I finally saw it. She had rented a tuxedo for me to wear at court. I had to look nice.

"I came partly to give you this for court." A police took it from her and took it into the room where I was at. He handed it to me and I had to tell her good bye. Court was in two hours and I had to look the very best that I could.

I was given some lumpy oatmeal and an actually not so bad fruit cup. I mostly ate that and then left the other prisoners to go to the bathroom. I brushed my teeth and took a shower. After that, I went back to my cell and changed in to the tuxedo. I combed back my hair and put on some deodorant. This place smelled like rotten fish. I gagged.

*One and a half hours later*

I rode to the court house in the police car. When we arrived, my heart beat sped up. I walked in and saw what seemed like thousands of people. In the front was my family and all of my friends. I stood behind a podium and then saw the doors open again to see Grant coming in. Someone rolled him in on a wheel chair. He was completely overreacting about this. I mean, he was hurt, but he made it sound worse than it was just for sympathy. He put his hand on his head and moaned in fake pain. He then grabbed onto his side and leaned forward saying "oooowwwwww!".

I wanted to roll my eyes so bad at him and all of the people in the crowd believing him, but I didn't. He reached another podium and I stopped looking at him. The judge spoke.

"Today we bring forward two young men, Taylor Caniff and Grant Markus. Taylor has been accused of violently harassing Grant. According to Mr. Caniff, this was an act of self defense, but Mr. Markus says that it was not."

I raise my hand.

"Your honor, I promise you this was all self defense. I was just walking to the store when Grant tried to choke me. I did not know what else to do."

Grant shook his head and the judge looked at him.

"Your honor, he has no proof."

I looked at Rianne who was mentioning for me to look at her. It took her a few times for me to understand what she was saying but I finally understood. She was mouthing "security cameras". I almost gasped and looked back at the judge.

"Mr. Caniff, do you possibly have any photos or videos to prove yourself right?"

"I do not have any with me, but Rianne Oliver does."

Rianne stood up and stared right into the judges eyes.

"Your honor, I do not have these with me, but I know that many houses around the neighborhood have security cameras located outside of them."

The judge nodded and then motioned for two men to go to the houses and get clips from each of them. The men scurried out and I looked at Grant. I was happy at first hoping that this would prove me right, but Grant had a look in his eyes. A look of success. He wasn't about to succeed.

We waited for about another twenty or so minutes for the two men to arrive. The judge was asking us a series of questions. For each one, I tried to look as serious throughout each question. My family was supporting me and a lot of times, Grant didn't look too serious. He didn't make eye contact. I thought I was off to a good start. The men finally came back with a concerned look on their faces.

"Have we found any evidence?"

"We have some more devastating news. Someone has disconnected all of the security cameras. We do not know what it is, but we believe this could have been done so we couldn't figure out who started the conflict."

I was so done. I looked at Grant who was smirking. He planned this all out. He disconnected it all and now I had no evidence whatsoever. Rianne was crying in to Bali's shoulder as she rubbed her back in comfort. I didn't know what else to say.

"Would either of you like to confess up?"

Both of us shook our heads no waiting for the judge to speak some more.

"Unless somebody would like to speak up and share any evidence such as a picture or video, Taylor must be put back in to prison for hurting Grant."

I felt myself crying. I wasn't supposed to be in jail. I looked up at the judge and raised my hand to speak. I started to talk, but the words came out in a screaming tone. I couldn't let this happen. Grant just sat back smiling.

"YOUR HONOR PLEASE! I AM BEGGING YOU. I PROMISE YOU THIS WAS SELF DEFENSE. PLEASE DO SOMETHING TO SHOW MORE EVIDENCE. DO A LIE DETECTOR OR SOMETHING!"

"I am very sorry sir. A lie detector will be considered, but right now Grant has more evidence than you do."

I slammed my fist down and the whole court room began to grow louder and louder. People bickered over who was right and who was wrong and I just stood there praying. Finally, I heard a voice scream. It grew louder and louder. I looked behind me to see a young girl in her mid twenties yell "EVERYBODY QUIET!"

The judge slammed his gavel down and looked at her. He motioned for her to speak. I waited for what seemed like the longest time for words to come out of her mouth. She took out her iPad and looked at the judge.

"I have some evidence. And I know who to prove wrong." She said. She walked up and gave the iPad to the judge. She must have been filming us the whole time when the thing happened. I tapped my foot while seeing the judge watch the video. Who would he believe now?
