"Well, good morning," Clark said and chuckled. Lefu rolled her eyes.
"I need to meet up with Bruce today. I'll probably be back late. You have any plans tonight?" She asked. Clark thought for a moment then shook his head.
"None that I can think of. What's up?" He asked curiously. Lefu chuckled.
"Nothing, I just want to go out for a date. Like, a normal date," she said with smirk. He ruffled her hair.
"Then it's a date," Clark told her. He kissed her again before getting out of bed to get ready for work. Lefu picked up her phone and told Bruce to expect her. She showered quickly and slipped on her usual backless turtleneck and slacks. She padded out to Clark who handed over a cup of coffee. They stood outside on her patio, sipping at their coffee and enjoying croissants she conjured up for them. They stayed in companionable silence.
"I'm going to miss this," Lefu said, musing to herself. Clark glanced down at her.
"Planning on missing our morning ritual anytime soon?" Clark teased. Lefu smiled up at him and shook her head.
"I would never miss it for the world. Now, hurry up or else I'll never leave," Lefu teased back. Clark smiled and pulled her up against him for a kiss. She savoured this as he deepened the kiss, tightening his hold on her. He broke the kiss and smirked down at her.
"You're the one who is making it hard to leave," he said, tapping her nose. Lefu laughed and pushed him away gently.
"If you keep that up, we'll both never leave my place," she scolded. Clark smiled and gave her a quick kiss before flying away. Lefu waved good-bye then slipped on flat shoes. She went back to the patio and launched herself into the air. She sped towards Gotham City and landed outside Wayne Manor's gates. She pushed the button.
"Hi, it's Lefu," she said into the intercom. The gates opened and she just flew up and over towards the door. Bruce was already waiting there, smirking.
"You know, you could have just came right to the door instead of the gates," he teased her. Lefu rolled her eyes.
"Right, and risk some of your security turning on? I'm good," she said sarcastically. Bruce chuckled and led her inside towards a sitting room. He sat down in a chair when Lefu plopped down across from him.
"What brings you here? Your call was out of the blue. I'm hoping you changed your mind about moving here," he said smiling. Lefu sighed and shook her head.
"Nope, sorry. Before I say anything, can I use your computer? One that only you can access and I don't have to worry about security," she asked. Bruce lifted a brow in question and stood.
"Sure, follow me. Any type of emergency?" He questioned, leading her down towards the Batcave. Lefu shook her head.
"Not at all. Just passing on information that's case sensitive. I'll explain it once I input the data," Lefu said. Bruce motioned towards a computer and she gladly started typing.
"Now, what I'm giving you is all the information on angels. Who we are, what we are, everything. Unfortunately for you, only an angel can kill another angel. I'm also inputting profile data on the other archangels both recently deceased and currently living. The ones who are replacing the deceased should be the ones missing on this record," she said typing furiously. Bruce looked grim.
"Why are you giving this to me?" He asked. Lefu didn't looked up at him, just concentrated on typing.
"Because I'm going to die soon. I've inputted Jeremiel's prophecy into the computers but password protecting it. I don't want you to look at it until the day of so please try not to crack it before then. I know you can just hack into it but it's imperative you leave it alone. Messing with the future can create more problems instead of fixing anything," Lefu explained. Bruce stopped her by turning her around with his hands on her shoulders.
"Wait, are you sick? I know your wings haven't turned back to their usual color but does the color mean something? What about your eyes? Is that also a sign?" He asked. Lefu shook her head.
"No, that's not it. Remember what you've been told about preventing death? I'm doing it. I'm giving up my life force for someone else to live," she told him grimly. Bruce stepped back in disbelief.
"It's Clark. You're saving Clark," he whispered. Lefu turned back around to finish typing up the information.
"There's nothing you can do. His fate has been written and his soul already knows. If you even make a move to do anything or warn him, I will erase your memories of this meeting so that you're just oblivious. I can do it for you now set it up to where you recover them the day of if you'd like. It'd be easier that way, I understand," she said calmly. Bruce sank into his chair in disbelief.
"Is there a way around this?" He asked quietly, thinking. Lefu finished all the data she could type up and leaned against the computer, looking down at him.
"No, there isn't. He will live and I will die. When that happens, make sure no one messes with my body. It'd suck for someone to try and dissect me because of my wings," she joked, trying to lighten the mood. Bruce grasped her hand and squeezed.
"I would never want you to die," he told her. Lefu laughed.
"It's ok. I've made my peace. I'm just tying up loose ends. Please, don't do anything rash and make me regret telling you," she asked him meaningfully. Bruce sighed.
"I give you my word. It's a shame it's come to this. I really would have loved it if you came home with me one day," he teased. Lefu rolled her eyes and pulled out a picture from behind her. She handed him the picture of them on Halloween.
"Here you go. It's the best picture. I have it plastered everywhere," she laughed. Bruce scowled and gazed at the picture.
"I really should have ignored what was said and enjoyed that kiss," he mumbled. Lefu laughed and gripped his shoulder.
"Good-bye Bruce. It's been a pleasure knowing you," Lefu said meaningfully. Bruce sighed and grabbed her towards him into a hug. He kissed the top of her head and squeezed tightly.
"You don't have to go you know. You can stay here with me and I'll make you happy," he whispered. Lefu patted his back and shook her head. Bruce chuckled. "Good-bye Lefu. Hope to see you around teasing me about this picture and threatening Superman with yo-yos." Lefu laughed and stepped back. She snapped her fingers and two lead lined boxes appeared in her hands. She handed them to him.
"Speaking of. You have to do that for me. Make sure to pull out the green one just to mess with him," she said with a wink. Bruce smiled and took the boxes.
"I have a theory about who's yo-yo's these were before you conveniently stole them," he mused. She smiled yet didn't give a reply. Lefu flitted out of the house and launched herself into the air when she was out of the house. She flew back to Metropolis.
