Lefu and Clark acted like nothing had happened between them ever since then. Lefu felt disappointed but followed his lead. She noticed he avoided touching her since then also. She started to miss it when he patted her head like before. A flyer was shoved in her face and Lefu took it from Jimmy Olsen's hands.

"What's this?" Lefu asked. Jimmy leaned up against Clark's desk, crossing his arms. Jimmy was smiling slyly.

"That's the flyer for the office Halloween party. I wanted to make sure you came," Jimmy said. Lefu looked down at her flyer then back up at Jimmy, unsure.

"I'm not sure I'm going. I have plans..." She said lamely. Jimmy laughed.

"Oh, no you don't. I'm just using the party as an excuse. I really wanted to ask if you'll go with me, like as my date," Jimmy said with a large smile. Lefu laughed.

"I still don't know. I'm not the dating type," she teased. Jimmy scowled.

"Of course not. I'm no Bruce Wayne but I thought I'd at least have a chance to take you out at least once," he pouted. Lefu sighed, feeling guilty.

"Ok, fine... I'll go but as friends. It's not a date," Lefu stated firmly. Jimmy sprang up and did a fist pump in the air.

"Yes! I'll pick you up that night. Make sure to dress up in a costume for me! I'll email you details," Jimmy called back over his shoulder as he left. Lefu moaned and crumbled the flyer into a ball.

"You could have said no if you really didn't want to come that much," Clark commented as he sat down in his seat. Lefu shrugged and unwrapped the flyer, straightening it on the desk, avoiding his eyes.

"He made me feel bad. You saw his pouty face," she complained, "He made me feel like I was kicking a puppy." Clark chuckled.

"Still, it'll be interesting. What do you think he plans for you two to dress up as?" Clark asked curiously. Lefu tapped a finger to her chin thoughtfully.

"I'm not sure. I hope it's not those lame couples costumes like a plug and socket or a pimp and his ho," Lefu mused. Clark laughed. They worked chatting aimlessly like how it was before the kiss. The only difference was the air. It felt like he was talking to her like she was a good friend instead of potential dating material. She kicked herself mentally, feeling stupid to even consider it. The editor called her to his office.

"Yes, sir?" she asked, sitting down in the chair before his desk. The editor smiled brightly.

"There's a special guest showing up for our Halloween party. I want to make sure that you came," the editor said. Lefu looked at him suspiciously.

"Yes, I'm going with Jimmy. He just asked me earlier," she worded carefully. The editor laughed and clapped her on the back.

"That's great! Can't wait till this weekend," he said and led her out of his office. Lefu's brows scrunched in confusion as she made her way back to Clark. She gave a last confused glance back towards the editor's office before sitting down.

"What'd he want?" Clark asked curiously. Lefu shrugged.

"I'm not sure. I'll just have to wait and see. Can I check my email really quick? Jimmy keeps pointing at his computer for me to check," Lefu said. Clark smiled and they traded places. Lefu pulled up her email and read Jimmy's costume idea. She snorted and laughed. She covered her mouth quickly to try and stifle herself but her shoulders shook. Clark looked confused.

"What's so funny? It must be good," Clark asked with a sly smile. Lefu shut out her email, covering the screen.

"It's a surprise. You have to wait to see this. I'm actually looking forward to this now," Lefu said between her laughing fits. Lefu kept giggling to herself whenever her mind wandered to that email, only further piquing Clark's interest.
