Lefu stood outside on her patio enjoying her morning. Clark appeared and waved at her. She tossed him a croissant and sipped at her coffee.
"Howdy neighbor. Feeling better?" Clark asked, and noted the pallor of her skin was back to normal. Lefu's eyes twinkled at the memory of her flight.
"I'm good. Had a good rest. Lots of interesting visitors," she teased. Clark smiled.
"Yea, I saw Bruce stop by. He seemed happy to see you too," Clark chuckled. Lefu scowled.
"That man and his ego. He's lucky I like him. He thought it was funny when I called him a dick. Can you believe that?" She asked huffily. Clark burst into laughter.
"Why would you call him that? Did he do something?" Clark asked between his bouts of laughter. Lefu pouted.
"He made me accept a favor and labeled me as his girlfriend without consent. I think that qualifies any man as a dick," she stated simply. She waved as she left him laughing on his patio. She snapped her fingers, ready for work and locked the doors behind her.
Lefu rushed excitedly downstairs and rounded into an alley and launched herself into the air, enjoying the feel of her wings. She laughed happily to herself as she landed in her usual alley down the street from work and took her time at nearby stores. She arrived to work humming to herself, waving to co-workers and plopped down in her desk. Clark arrived and smiled at her.
"Something happen since I last saw you?" He asked teasingly. Lefu smirked.
"Something called a lead. Want to come with me when I'm reporting about some new technology?" she asked. Clark lifted a brow.
"New tech? What is it?" He asked. Lefu pulled up a window about a company.
"This company is showing off their new gizmo. It's supposed to create a wormhole to travel around with. It's government contracted and there's a press conference being held as a public demonstration. I figure it'd be worth looking into," Lefu stated, proudly puffing out her chest. Clark shook his head.
"Nope, you need to be invited to those kinds of things and we're not invited," Clark admonished, shutting down her idea. Lefu sighed and pulled out two passes from inside her coat, holding them up for him to see.
"Duh! That's why I got these. We're VIP so we're up close and personal. You should get down on your knees and beg to come with me," she teased, poking Clark in the chest with the passes. Clark laughed and grabbed her hand, stopping her from poking him.
"Ok, ok, I give. What time does it start?" Clark asked. Lefu checked the computer and pulled her hand out of his grasp absent-mindedly.
"If we leave now in a taxi, we should get there a little early. That'll give us time to talk to Mr. Nakamura, the scientist in charge of this project," Lefu stood up and waited for Clark. They made their way via taxi to the conference and got in no problem. They were led into a warehouse where Mr. Nakamura was hunched over a small gun. Mr. Nakamura looked up and a smile crept across his face.
"Lefu! You're here! Where have you been all this time? I thought you'd never make it," Mr. Nakamura said in Japanese, enveloping Lefu into a hug. Clark looked confused and rubbed the back of his neck. Lefu laughed and pulled out of the hug.
"Please, it's Lefu now. I just got your passes today. This is my friend Clark. We'll be doing a report with the Daily Planet," Lefu introduced in Japanese. Mr. Nakamura smiled up at Clark Kent and held out a hand for a handshake.
"It's nice to meet you Mr. Kent. You take care of my Lefu?" Mr. Nakamura asked Clark with a thick accent. Clark smiled and shook his hand.
"It's a pleasure. Lefu is the one taking care of me. I didn't know you two knew each other," Clark commented. Lefu shrugged but Mr. Nakamura gushed.
