'peep that glow tho!' merlin exclaimed after wiping flour on his own cheekbones

'you're such a dork' arthur rolled his eyes, smiling

merlin responded by wiping more flour on arthur's cheekbones

'poppin!' he squealed, dodging the tea towel arthur threw at him

they had been attempting to make cookies for the past half hour and had only just gotten the ingredients out

merlin squeaked loudly and quickly covered his mouth with his hands before whispering 'is your father home?'

arthur shook his head as he tried to measure out the correct amount of sugar

'are you going to get in trouble?' merlin asked, motioning to the very messy kitchen

arthur shrugged but didn't take his eyes away from the sugar

'what are you doing?' merlin asked, head cocked to the side in an adorable way that made arthurs heart swell

'i need to get this jussst right' he hissed through his teeth

merlin nodded and rolled up his school uniform sleeves and pretended to check all the ingredients

'right,' arthur brushed his hands on a towel, standing up 'im going to get out of my uniform before the real baking begins'

'the real baking?' merlin questioned playfully 'oh boy i don't know if i can  handle that'

arthur raised his eyebrows at the boy. it had taken him so long to coax him out of his shell but now he seemed to be fully out

it made arthur happy that he helped him do that

'are you going to get changed?' arthur asked, loosening his tie

'nah, i don't have any clothes with me' he shrugged

he grabbed a cloth and started to clean up the flour he had spilt on the countertop

'you can borrow my clothes if you want' arthur suggested

'god, this whole afternoons just a big cliche' he laughed

'no, you need to get changed or your mum will kill you'

merlin looked up at the doorway arthur was standing in

'are you sure that's alright?'

'no, that's why i asked' arthur rolled his eyes and led merlin to his closet by the hand

the closet was about the size of merlins room

'this is ironic' merlin laughed quietly

arthur looked at him with an eyebrow raised

'me, in the- you know what, never mind'

arthur wasn't sure how to react so he just laughed and shook his head

'im not sure if i have anything that'll fit you'

merlin suddenly felt self conscious as arthur's eyes quickly skimmed his body

the taller boy reached up and brought down a nasa t-shirt and dark blue track pants

'here you go honeybabydarlingangel!' arthur smiled and passed him the clothing

'thanks hun' he smiled, making his way back to the spare bathroom

'c'mon! where's your originality?'

arthur crossed his fingers and held his breath for merlins answer

'originality is for nerds!' merlin called down the hallway
