'merlin!' a very drunk arthur yelled, looking around for the boy he had arrived with

the very few people in the room looked at him weirdly and went back to their previous conversation

'i have to find merlin' he said to himself, stumbling towards the front door

'arthur?' a female voice asked

arthur narrowed his eyes, this wasn't his merlin

'merlin?' he still asked, just in case

he couldn't exactly see very well at this point in time

'merlins just in the other room, im going to give you both a lift home'

'i love home' arthur nodded, smiling goofily

'that's nice' the girl said and lead him to where merlin supposedly was by the arm

arthur smiled and patted her hand lightly while she snickered

'when are we getting to merlin?' he whispered

'it's been five seconds arthur just calm down!' she giggled

arthur frowned, he just wanted merlin

'hey merlin, i found him!' the girl called after pushing arthur through a door

'thanks gwen' merlin smiled

arthur grinned, merlin was the only thing in his eyes would focus on, and the only thing he'd ever need in focus

'hi!' arthur whispered 'you're really pretty'

arthur cupped the other boy's cheek in his hand and felt him flinch

'is he drunk?' merlin asked

arthur pouted when merlin gently pushed his hand away

'very' gwen smiled and merlin took a slight step back

'lets go please' merlin said

arthurs eyebrows came together in confusion

'why are you acting so weird, like weirder then usual?' arthur asked loudly making a few people look their way, merlin squirming under their gaze

'im not!' merlin whispered 'i just really want to go home'

'okay, we'll drop you off first' gwen said and started to push arthur out the door

'are you sure that's okay?' merlin sighed 'that doesn't seem fair on you'

'i've known arthur for years, this isn't the first time i've had to deal with him drunk' she smiled

'this is not her first rodeo!' arthur said knowingly, in a horrible texan accent

they somehow managed to get arthur inside the small car without inflicting injury on anybody

'did you know that i play football?' arthur asked merlin, leaning on him

'yep' merlin replied stiffly

'gwen, did you know that?' he asked, poking her through the seat

'no, i didnt' she lied 'tell me more'

'well, i do running and throwing' he answered 'it's not very fun'

'why do you play if it isn't fun?'

'you' arthur pointed at her 'know my father'

she made a noise of agreement

'down here please, gwen' merlin said quietly as they approached an intersection

'in the housing commission part?' arthur blurted out

merlin nodded uncomfortably as gwen smiled at him through the revision mirror

the car was surprisingly quiet as they pulled up to an ugly, cramped, falling-apart blue house

'thank you' merlin muttered as he stepped out of the car

'goodnight merlin!' arthur exclaimed loudly

merlin flinched at his volume, knowing that his mother would now definitely be awake

'see you on wednesday' merlin muttered, looking at the house over his shoulder

'but its sunday, won't we see you tomorrow?' gwen asked, eyebrow raised

'if im lucky' he shuddered, smile still plastered on his face

they were both silent, concern growing in the girls eyes

'merlin, are you-' gwen started but was interrupted by the loud bang of the door opening

a large shadow clouded the doorway and merlin went rigid

'drive!' he whispered and gwen obeyed after one last worried glance

'what just happened?' arthur asked, quite frightened

even he could see through the alcoholic effects in his head, that something was weird about that situation they had encountered

'something is very wrong' gwen answered, chewing her lip
