"Jenkins!" We heard Eve yell through the walls of the annex. Clearly it was much smaller than was needed for it to be liveable. Galahad and I looked at each other, before getting up and walking back into the main office. I could sense that tensions had risen since we'd left, and that Galahad wanted me to stay calm. I could hear him pleading to me in his mind, don't resort to magic, don't resort to magic.

I was going to obey, so long as the Librarians and their guardian didn't try to part Galahad and I. I wasn't leaving so soon after finally finding my best friend. Nothing would stop me. Eve was pacing furiously, Stone was watching her, and Cassandra was wringing her hands with worry. In a dark corner I could sense Ezekiel, watching the scene but not daring to contribute just yet. He was smart, I thought, because he was willing to listen to both sides before choosing his own. Though he may pick a side for profit, in cases like this I was sure he'd do what he felt was right.

Eve stopped pacing, looking at Galahad and going into a rehearsed speech. "Jenkins, I want her out, she's clearly a danger to the library, and I don't trust her. Last time we met one of your 'friends' it was Morgan Le Fay, and she almost killing millions if it weren't for Cassandra and a teen genius," she rambled, before Stone cut in to make his arguement clear.

"She's right, I'm still not convinced that hundreds of texts of King Arthur are wrong about his child. I mean, even in ancient paintings Mordred's a boy. And I'll believe a painting more than Jenkins memory at this point." He crossed his arms, him and Eve standing together protectively.

Then, it seemed, it was time for our rebuttal. Galahad spoke first. "Colonel Baird this is preposterous, Morgan Le Fay was a legend for mayhem and evil, Mordred has no crimes to her name other than the fact she's a semi immortal with frankly a remarkable skin care routine. And Mr Stone, if it was so easy to rewrite every KingArthur book ever printed, I would still be busy rewriting them," Galahad said, I was about to add in my own comment when Stone interrupted.

"No crime to her name? In every King Arthur book I've ever read, he killed King Arthur, on the battlefield, in cold blood. Jenkins, Mordred killed your best friend, isn't that reason enough to abandon her? Is it, Jenkins?" He rumbled, taking Galahad aback.

"I simple misunderstanding," I said, my voice strong so they'd listen to me, "I never killed anyone. My father said it wasn't ladylike to kill someone on the battlefield where everyone could see. Women are more subtle and clever than that. I wasn't even present when my father was killed, I was tending to Galahad's wounds at the time. It was Lancelot who returned, triumphant from the battle, and told everyone I had killed the King. That's why I initially left the round table," I stated, remembering the pain I'd gone through that day, of Galahad's near death evade of me, and what had happened to the people I cared for the most.
