As I stepped the back door and into the alleyway I remembered how my presence could attract unwanted attention. Luckily for me I had the librarians, but they were already struggling as big men clamped their arms behind their backs.
I knew what I had to do, but I didn't like it. I had to use my secret weapon. "Hello Gentlemen. Surely we can talk about this," I said sweetly, getting their undivided attention, as well as Ezekiel's and Stones'. "What did you say?" Asked the biggest black suited buffoon from behind the Colonel.
I knew he was the leader, so I turned to him innocently. "Surely you're not going to kidnap these, charming, clearly weak people? I mean, now who would want a group of mismatched characters like these. Especially the two girls. They couldn't hurt a fly if you starved them to death." I said, greasing over the words with charm and persuasion. Even Ezekiel and Stone were agreeing with me, unable to stop themselves from drooling.
The Colonel and Cassandra looked disgustedly at me, offended by what I'd said about them. I knew they could've easily taken out these men given the right circumstances, but I was just trying to help my point. "What do you suggest we do with them then? Let them go? Go home?" Grunted another one of the men, holding back a dreamy looking Ezekiel.
"Why not?" I asked, "they're obviously no use to you?" I said, watching the men relax their grip on the Librarians. I looked at each one of the men before giving a wink to the leader, sealing the victory. "Alright then, let's go home lads," said the leader, letting go of the Colonel and gesturing to the others to do the same before walking away.
His men agreed quickly, each of them slinking away after giving me a last goofy grin of an apology. I sighed, exhausted. I hated to use my power, especially because it usually meant trouble down the track. "You saved us, thanks Mordred," said Ezekiel dopily, before he leaned in a kissed me on the lips. I heard Cassandra gasp and the Colonel roll her eyes.
When Ezekiel let go of me the spell had been broken and he went red almost instantly. "I'm sorry," he said, scratching his head confusedly. "I don't know what happened."
"I know," said Stone, before he kissed me too.I pushed him away gently, letting him see what he'd done before he went red too, joining Ezekiel with embarrassment. "Geez, sorry," he muttered. Behind him Cassandra and the Colonel looked furiously at me, blaming me for their behaviour.
"What did you do to those men? And what did you do to my friends?" Cassandra said, looking worriedly over at the boys before turning on me.
"I'm really sorry Cassandra, I don't mean it I swear. It's a power of mine, it makes guys a little, dreamy, over me. It was the only way I could think of getting you guys out of trouble." I apologised, looking from Cassandra to the two boys. The Colonel was the only one that hasn't said anything yet, so I looked at her. She shrugged, before opening the door we'd come through and shouting into the the annex. "Jenkins! Your little girlfriend has proved she's not evil, can we come back in now?"
I waited, holding my breath and feeling my cheeks grow hot. "She's not my girlfriend, and yes, you can come back in now." Replied Galahad, making me sigh with relief. Thank goodness this had just been a test. I needed tea, and quickly.
