Ezekiel ran a few paces into the art gallery, taking a moment to look at the paintings around him before beginning to search for Stone. He heard a low, cowboy accent ahead of him and smiled to himself, listening to what the art historian was saying aloud.
"Look at you, you really don't know how beautiful you are do you? I mean, why would you? You've got no eyebrows, no lashes, no makeup, nothing conventionally considered 'beautiful', and yet you are considered the most beautiful women in the world." Ezekiel turned the corner to see Stone in front of the fake Mona Lisa, leaning against the wall as if trying to flirt with her. Stone face suddenly frowned and pushed off the wall, looking frustrated.
"And now I'm talking to a painting," he said, frustrated. He shook his fist, before he looked up, seeing Ezekiel for the first time. "Man where've you been! I couldn't get back to the annex, what's going on?" he said, racing up to Ezekiel, who suddenly looked defeated. Stone stopped, suddenly concerned for the youngest Librarian.
"What's happened?" He asked Ezekiel, the younger Librarian looked at him before slowly beginning his story. "Well, you know how you opened the back door and went, wherever," Ezekiel started, wondering how he was going to explain everything. "Yeah," the cowboy prompted, worried.
"Well, after you left I took Mordred to this little cafe, and we talked and had drinks and," Ezekiel began, smirking just the slightest.
"Wait, you mean you two went on a date?" Stone asked, a little impressed even though he was going to show Ezekiel that, "How did Jenkins react?" he asked, smiling.
"That's just it," Ezekiel said, "he got super jealous, and when we got back he'd disappeared, Cassandra was telling us he started muttering about me, that Mordred only liked me because I was young. So when we got back Mordred realised that Jenkins was going to sacrifice his soul to become young again, so we went to this beach and Morgana Le Fay was there, and so he's young again and he's passed out in the annex. I came to debrief you so that you wouldn't overreact when you got back." Ezekiel finished, peaking at Stone as if the other Librarian might beat him up for what he'd done.
"You're being very mature about this," Stone managed to say, this time obviously impressed with Ezekiel.
That's when Ezekiel snapped, jumping around with his hand on his head. "I'm not okay with this!" he yelled, darting about nervously as he ranted to his friend. "The girl I love is through that back door now, but because of me Jenkins has practically betrayed every rule he's ever taught us. He told us that we need to resist the temptation to use magic for our own use. He was the one who told Eve that she needed to protect our souls, and yet I go on one date and he completely crumbled under it! And now, NOW, I'm 'supposed' to just, i don't know, give up Mordred because he's suddenly changed his mind about liking her, even though he had his chance for centuries until she went on one date with me! I can't believe how stupid he's being." Ezekiel dropped, exhausted after the break down.
"What?" Stone asked, "Did you say you loved her?"
"You're missing the point, you're not even listening to me," Ezekiel said, his eyes watery.
"No, I'm not, you said you loved her, you can't just let her go," Stone said gently, trying to get his point across.
"I'm Ezekiel Jones, I'm a Librarian, I'm the best thief in the world. I can steal anything and I've never been caught, not once. But those things didn't matter, they didn't matter to me or anyone. But now i've stolen something too big. I stole Mordred from Jenkins, and now I've finally gotten caught. I stole her heart and now Jenkins expects to steal her back. There's only one problem though," Ezekiel said, trembling.
"What?" Stone asked, realising he'd never seen Ezekiel this emotional before.
"She stole me heart back." Ezekiel said, looking into Stone's eyes with his own, a tear running down his face.
