Morgana stood in front of me, frozen for a second as she registered what I'd just said. "No," she gasped, the corners of her mouth curling up like it was Christmas.
"That's my offer," I said, my feet were getting cold, "so? Do we have a deal?"
"What does your offer entail?" Morgana asked me, suddenly suspicious.
"What?" I asked, having not really thought it through. To be honest i'd thought she'd just jump at the offer.
"Well, you clearly want to be young for a special someone, and that would mean you two could be young together. How would i, then, get you once i had fulfilled my part of this, frankly delicious bargain?" She said, rubbing her hands together, her eyes looking, well, thirstily at me.
"I would still continue my work at the annex," I began, thinking about the Librarians, and how much they would need my help, "but, let's say on weekends, and at certain times of the year, I'd be your, your companion." I resolved, thinking that that wasn't such a bad punishment.
Morgana looked me up and down, thinking hard. "Well, i suppose that would be better, i mean, since Mordred left it's been empty around here," she whispered to herself, "and i would then look forward to someone to talk to, we'd be a family in a way." She snapped her full attention towards me, squinting as if she was trying to read my mind, to make sure i'd keep my promise.
"Swear it," she said.
"Swear to do what?" I asked.
"Swear that you will keep your promise, until you grow old, or you finally choose to die," she said, a grin escaping her.
"I swear, on Excalibur, for as long as I choose to live on this world, I will not abandon, forget, or betray my promise. In return for youth, i will be your eternal companion." I said, speaking the entire truth. I was doing this for Mordred, for myself, and i hoped i could make Morgana a better person if i was around her more often.
Morgana grinned cheekily. "They're not bad," she said, "you could use them as wedding vows. Well, i suppose that, given this promise, i should make my own vows." She rose towards me, holding out her hand.
"I vow, Sir Galahad, Prince of Corbenic and Benwick, Immortal Knight of the Round, that I shall keep you young for as long as we are together, that i will protect you and those you protect, and that, for as long as you keep your promise to me, i will not harm a mortal being."
