Longkit

I wake to my sister, Bluekit prodding my side. "what?" I hiss under my breath "We're gonna sneak out to the forest. No cat's awake yet." She mewed. I sit up but remain silent. "Longkit, Firekit, Brokenkit, Graykit and us are going." She stated, her eyes lighting up when she mentioned Firekit. Longkit? He's so dreamy! Why would he want to go with kits like us? "Yeah, sure!" I meow, careful not to wake my mom, Yellowfang. My brother Brokenkit came up to me and pressed into my flank. "Let's go before someone wakes up." He yowled. We all dash out of the nursery and head toward the camp entrence. We squeeze through, then keep running. I gasp. A mouse! My father, Jaggedstar would be so proud if I caught it! I stalk, then burst into a run, scooping it up in my jaws and killing it, before I tripped over a sharp rock. I was flung into the dirt. Longkit dashed to my side. "Redkit!" Bluekit and Longkit yowled in unison. Longkit fixed his jaws on my scruff and pulled me up. I spit out dirt in disgust. I press into my sister. "That...was....AWESOME!"I squeak, leaping to my paws. Brokenkit stared at me in astonishment. "You flew at least a fox length!" laughed Graykit. Firekit gasped, "You're bleeding!" I look down to my chest and see a long gash gushing blood. I collapse, fear rushing in my veins. "Boys, go fetch Cinderpelt!" Bluekit screeched. I let my head fall to the ground. My eyes flash to the ground, where there was a puddle of blood.

"Redkit!" Cinderpelt mewed. She began pressing cobwebs gently to my wound. My mother burst through the camp entrence, followed by the boys. "My kit, my little kit." She meowed. "I'm okay mom, look what I caught." I rasp, flicking my tail toward the mouse I caught. Cinderpelt chewed some herbs and spat them onto my wound. They stung a little at first, but it wasn't too bad. My mom picked me up and brought me back to the nursery. She set me down, and began grooming me rapidly. Longkit padded into the nursery and set down my mouse. "Can we share it?" he asked, scuffing the floors with his big paws nervously. I nod and he scooted closer to me, then we shared the mouse. I curl up, then Longkit padded to me and collapsed. We fell asleep together.
