Redfang's Quest-Warriors

Wolf

   "Redfang!" called Ashglow. My ears pricked as my deputy neared. Was he okay? "We just returned from our patrol. Wolf scent has been picked up on our territory." He meowed grimly. We could deal with small dogs, not wolves! "We have to face them. Either we die driving them out, or we die cowards letting them rip us to shreds while we did nothing. We will take all warriors and apprentices. Let's go now. Show us exactly where you guys found the scent, then we can try tracking them." I ordered. Ashglow gathered the clan and we set off.

   Bluemoon trotted next to me as we followed the scent carefully. "stop!" Ashglow hissed as we saw a huge grey shape stalking toward us. Bluemoon's kits were apprenticed now, but only Lowpaw, Rainpaw, and Sparrowpaw were with us, as Briarpaw was the medicine cat apprentice. They were learning quickly with Ashglow, Acefire, and Blaze as their mentors. My thoughts were interrupted by Ashglow's cry. The wolf was tearing into his scruff. I bolted over and leaped, knocking Ashglow from the wolf's jaws. It instead grabbed a hold of my pelt. I scrabbled powerfully at the dirt with my claws, until I ripped free, stinging as a good chunk of my pelt was left behind. Sparrowpaw barreled onto the wolf's shoulders, her tail whipping furiously. Soon her brother Rainpaw joined in. Acefire reared and shredded at the wolf's muzzle. It had had enough. It threw the apprentices off in a swift buck before snatching up Acefire and chucking her away. Filled with horror and rage, I launched at it, hooking claws into its head and holding on. I ripped them down across its eyes and flew off. Jinx scored down the wolf's ribcage while Ashglow bit into the back of its neck. I moved in quickly, I had lives to spare, they did not. I raked the beast's cheek and Blaze leaped on its back and bit into its back hard. It flopped down on Blaze! I ran over quickly, battering the creature's face quick and hard. I let out hisses of anger. I scored across the wolf's throat over and over, before it jumped to its paws and grasped me by the back of my neck, tossing me across the clearing. Something snapped as I rammed into a tree. I felt my small body hit the ground, then it was black.

  "Redfang, you have lost a life. I would love to catch up, but you need to leave, now" Mewed my mother, Yellowfang. I dipped my head and licked her ear, and before I knew it I was back to battle. I broke my hind paw. I cried out when I stepped on it, but I HAD to keep battling. I hobbled back to see Dodge scratching its eyes. I rushed forward and scratched from in between its ears to its nose. It grabbed Dodge and shook him like a squirrel. I lunged forward and began battering its face blindly. I released dodge and lunged forward, grabbing Jinx, and snapping her neck like a mouse bone. I race to her and press my face in her neck. "No!" I cried. I look up, my claws slipping out of their sheathes. I bounded to the wolf and leaped on its neck. I sank teeth into its neck and reached forward to score down its face. I sliced its back with my hind claws and didnt stop. My eyes blazed and my claws gleamed. No one and nothing could stop me now. I felt him getting ready to roll. As he was falling I leaped to his front and bit as hard as I could into its throat just under its muzzle and raked its shoulders with my fore claws. It snarled as I batterd his belly with my hind claws. It tried to run away, but Ashglow and Acefire blocked. They too were outraged. Jinx was their mother. I scurried up onto its neck again and continued biting. Acefire and Ashglow piled onto it and shredded with claws. Blaze and Dodge both rushed in on either side and slashed its eyes, then its throat. The beast roared and spun, desperate to dislodge us. I only bit harder and sunk my claws deeper, before dragging them through its skin. I was desperate to cause it as much pain as possible. Ashglow released his fore claws only to rake them down the wolf's ribs over and over countless times. Dodge held onto its throat with his powerful jaws and tore backwards. The wolf yelped and leaped, only driving my claws deeper into it. "We stop when this stupid mistake of a being is DEAD!" I roared, slicing the wolf again. It rolled and me and Ashglow scurried out from under it, followed by Acefire. I dug my sharp fangs into its throat and dragged my long claws across it as many times as I could. Blaze shot forward and sank teeth into its belly. Luna darted in, before flying directly on the wolf's face, an slashed over and over and over. "Tear this creature to bits!" She called, sinking her fangs next to mine in its throat. I realeased and went to its back as it struggled to get up. Blaze, Bluemoon and Dodge leaped up onto him with me while Tallear, Mistypath, Luna, and Acefire attacked legs, throat and face. It fell onto its side and we all went for throat or back of neck as Sparrowpaw and Tallear bit its hind legs to keep in from kicking at us. In a split second it was standing up, and shook all of uss off, sending Rainpaw flying. It trotted forward and grabbed the gray apprentice. Bluemoon and Volefur shrieked and raced forward, along with Goldfoot, Sparrowpaw and Lowpaw. They attacked with rage and power, but their brother was already dead. "No!" we shrieked. Now it just gave me a million more reasons to kill it. We charged and bowled it over, and I tore at its throat with most of the cats, while Sparrowpaw, Mistypath, Lowpaw, and Goldfoot attacked its ribs and back. With the rest of its strength it flew off the ground and ran away, but we were too fast. I went after it, Bluemoon hard on my heels. My paw was numbed with anger and determination. We leaped and landed on its back, and now it was back on the ground. 

   I needed to move fast. I launched at its throat, biting and slashing furiously. Ivymoon and Redpaw, her apprentice, bit into the back of its neck and reached forward, dragging claws along its throat. It howled and took its last breath, and it was gone. Yowls of triumph echoed everywhere, but I had different things on my mind. I pelted over to Jinx and buried my face in her grey pelt. "You were a great friend, I'll never forget you. The clan will honor you forever, you gave your life for us." I mew, quivering. "Come on, we have to get the injured to Aspen" I meow to my clan.
