Beyond the Wall

We rode the thunder under darkening skies
Tearing up our daydreams one by one
Sometimes people tried to warn you or I
that we may find regret when all was done

The whirlwind struggle to force our fate
tore up the world of everyone in our path
and woe to anyone caught in our debates
as we collided in unbridled wrath

At times the tender sides were upturned
And sometimes we let go in order to hold on
These brief moments were all well earned
yet they were always too quickly gone

In every advantage we each kept our hand
only showing the cards when called
For each of us had our own life plan
and I could never reach beyond the wall
