Life Invaded

She whispered a dream into my ear
One that nobody else could hear
It caressed my mind with her tones
and settled warm into my bones

So I dreamed right along with her
knowing the real world would somehow endure
We hid away and held our ground
waiting for the future to come around

We smiled with eyes locked in time
How could this be any crime?
We waved deep into each other's sea
I with her and her with me

Here this blissful experiment
seemed perfect and heaven sent
until we woke to our own fear
as others began to encroach too near

The band we made twisted and broke
when in time we misspoke
For you were hurt and I was slain
when life invaded the dream again
